Jumpers on bridges
Lets face it, we all feel sorry for people who are down and out, ready to jump off our city's fair bridges. But today, a man took 5 hours on the second narrows to get his shit together and come down. When that was done, someone else threatened to jump off the lions gate. Traffic in Vancouver was in gridlock today.
These acts of disregard for the community and other people's lives invites criticism; how selfish are you that you need to attract this much attention to yourself? Myself, I was on my way to Richmond from SFU -on transit - for a community outreach program with Sport BC. Because of these turds on the bridges, I wonder how many others doing good work, contributing to society, and helping others were affected. If these people actually wanted to kill themselves, they would jump before anyone could stop them. These people just wanted attention - and stopping a whole city is a hugely selfish act.

ya i heard about this on the news.....
ya it sucks everything was in grid lock.... dont u think u would feel more badly though had they have jumped?.... what if it was one of your friends... is waiting for 5 hours worth saving their lives?......

I might come across heartless because I am... but if they want to jump let them jump.
They made the concious decision to go and put themselves in that position. Why am I to change that. If they don't want to jump then I am sure they have enough brainpower to get back into a safe position. Inconveniencing a few thousand people with no end result is just a waste of people time. That's 5 hours I'll never get back and I really had a lot of things to do.

i think the guy who tried to jump off the lions gate bridge was goin crazy from being stuck in traffic so long... my sister was in traffic for 2hrs and just about to get on the lions gate and then they closed it..she was SO pissed off cuz she couldn't get to work..but that was kinda funny for me cuz she called me with hourly updates.. if i were to commit suicide..i'd do it privately..then there would be no one to persuade me otherwise..why all the attention..why bridges?

Listening to the fox today...apparently it wasn't a jumper.....It was one of those divorced dads dressed up as batman/robin protesting for the fathers rights of custody after a divorce.
What an ass....make a sign and walk around city hall like everybody else.

the 28 i was on was the first 28 to be re-routed to kootney loop. i missed a life drawing\painting class. we only have the model for another day. im fucked. basically its like i missed about 70% of my midterm. i even cried a little cause i freaked out. now, i just dont care and am going to do a second painting. plus i had a pretty relaxed wonderful day with the boyfriend that wouldnt have had if my bus didnt get stopped.
its a sad event that affected hundreds of people.

If I was stuck on a Bridge for 5 Hours I'd push the depressed emo bugger making me late for work. If you want to jump, just do it... If you want to live, go somewhere else to be depressed, not on a major arterial Road. There are places for you to talk to people. My Cold yet efficient opinion.

screaming out for attention at the top of your lungs, afraid that all youve worked for will be forgotten because you are only an insignificant blip on the radar have you ever thought that things would be simpler if you were never born and all your mistakes will never be forgiven or forgotten and your life will only get worse from here People who attempt suicide are not themselves, wrapped up in depression, clouded with fear and sadness. Of course its a cry for attention but sometimes we need to undrestand the situation before we berate people who are doing the best that they can do with what they have. We are all flawed, we are all selfish. But in a matter of life and death Id rather stew in stand still traffic than force someone to end something that can be so meaningful. I just hope whoever it was gets help.

And then if i still feel like killing myself, i'd go die with all the fun drugs i can find!
