Finding a Second Job
ahhh!
this is so frustrating. I have a ridiculous amount of cs experience, yet I've been unable to find a second job due to my stupid availability. I work mon-fri 8:30-5:00 and apparently being able to work ANY evening and ANY weekend day or evening is not enough. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck! Anyone know of anywhere hiring that would want someone just for evenings and weekends? I never thought this would be so diffcult since my previous employers have never had a problem with some employees only being able to work eves and wkends. GAAAAH!!!! |

I think the other concern with the employer is your already wroking full time. Your going to be really burnt out, and they dont want an emplyee who is working after doing a full time shift. Maybe try telling them your at school or something?
Its really hard/imposible to find a job thats going to fit around the one you have. I know alot of ppl can get 1-2 shift a week jobs... but thats not how it usualy started out for them. I think you know how much employer's like avalability... If your really want a second job your really going to have to try hard at this. Good Luck Nat! |

i have two jobs right now and i go to school full time, i lied ALOT to get them.
in december im applying for a third, through a friend. i have one shift a week with one job, and two hours a week with the other. one job i have had for awhile, its seasonal, the other i got in the summer through lying about my current job then.... what im getting at is basically what rhia said, some lying may be neccessary. more so white lies, i said that i "volunteered" with the city working with kids, so it made it seem like i could organize my hours\didnt have that many. i dont know if you can even apply this in anyway to your current positions. finding work sucks. |

Looking back at my old job were we had a crazy turn over/hire rate... I think all the ppl our manager ever hired would say they were avalible anytime OR they had school OR they were quiteing there old job looking for somthing better. However I think when they were hired they would THAN tell the manager when they were really available. OR try to find a better job and turn your current job into the part time flexible job since your already working there ;) |

I'm working three jobs right now
-Starbucks -hostessing -Falcon International (diamond and jewelary distributors) Two of those jobs, I didn't even have to give them a resume. It's all about working your resources and getting to know the right people. Good Luck in your hunt Nat :) |
