I have done ZERO of my christmas shopping. It makes me a little bit sad inside..

I give them usually around Christmas. Mainly because a) I'm not such a Christian, and 2) Why stress over a day? Howzabout we make this the season of giving instead of the season of stressing out over giving with just one day of reprieve?

Christmas giving for me is a little sketchy. Number one my list is my son, William, second is my nefew Zachary, then my sis, ma and pa, and friends....

I choose to partake in giving gifts because, frankly, it's human nature.... We spent the summer being wowwed by the things people can do, and we spend the next six months gathering ourselves together so that we can show people what we've been working on... That's _why_ there's so many gift-giving holidays kicking around the middle of the winter... We're all holed up... we need something to do to keep ourselves active, so we hit this period where we think it's appropriate to exchange gifts.

You don't like the consumerism? Then don't buy anything. Gifts are supposed to come from you, right? Not Wal-Mart.... I don't mind picking gifts for people, be it movies or music or whatever... I'm not a very tactile person and so I rather focus my energies on finding something I _know_ the person will like. I don't know if I really get it right all the time, but last Winter I got leg humps from all my close friends because of what I got them... And that kind of gratitude is all the reason I need to get into the spirit of things.

99.9% of my gifts i make for people. im an artist, and really, most friends have demanded art work this year.

but i budgeted myself this year, and was able to get something super duper fly for the boyfriend, because his walls are overflowing with artwork, and due to the fact that he is indeed one of the worlds greatest boyfriends, i wanted to get him something specail. this season is just an excuse to give gifts.

to be honest, i love christmas because its the only time i really see\spend time with my extended family. plus all the loads of extra time i get to spend with my parents and my brother. and no one seems to be at each others throats. its nice. christmas is NOT about consumerism for some people, and one would think that apon realization of the consumerism, a person would dp there best to spread the real christmas cheer around.
watch charlie brown's christmas specail. he says it alot better than me.

dave hit it right on, gifts aren't about giving at one or two times of year. you can give gifts, hugs, kisses, and spend time with the people you <3 and care about all the time anytime, and that's what really makes my heart three times larger.
