Ill never take anti biotics unless its absolutly nessesary. Not because of the side effects, but it weakens your amune system.
As for the dr. Many of them prescribe anti biotics becuase so many ppl demand a medicine to cure them and arnt willing to just get some rest and take it up. Therefore it's easyer for the dr to just through the pills at you. Errrg many dr.'s stink as my dr. tells me nothing and I have to resurch my own medical concerns... tell her what I probly have and what she should probly prescribe me LOL BOOOOOOOOO Last edited by Ree Fresh; Dec 29, 04 at 02:50 AM. |

^ antibiotics don't weaken your immune system.
diva from cubed's account. and you're not supposed to stop taking them because the bacteria wont get killed and they will build up resistance against that particular antibiotic, making it harder to treat the infection if it gets out of control or if you get it again the next time. ppl not following instructions are why we have antibiotic resistant strains of bacteria in the first place. (yes, along with stupid doctors who prescribe antibiotics for viral infections) |

i got tonsilitis and am taking penicillian for next ten days its okay i dont even mind not being able to drink on new years, its important to finish the perscription the doc told me cuz thats the required about needed to kill off the bacteria infection and make sure of it.

they suck, in alotta ways, but hey, gotta go throu a lil somethin ta stay alive right? |

when I'm on antibiotics, I'll usually either eat a lot of yogurt or take probiotics.
see, as antibiotics kill bad bacteria, they also kill good bacteria during the process. yogurt and probiotics can help kinda restore the bacterial culture in your GI tract. this is supposed to help prevent diarrhea (a very common side effect of antibiotics). --Joanne :P |

I have only stopped taking the pills because I don't really think I have a bacterial infection. I'm going to another doctor today to do a blood test and get another oppinion. If they think that I have some problem with my limphnotes (sp?) then I'll keep taking them. I only stopped last night. It's just all the doc did was rub the back of my neck and ask if this was tender. But I know in the past when I get a bug, I get a bit of an ache around my shoulders, and nobody has thrown pills at me before.
I just don't know why I would want to keep taking them if all it does is makes my stomach hurt and makes me throw up among other things. So like I said I'm getting a second oppinion on this today. PS: this was not my family doc, it was a drop in med clinic doctor. My other doctor is hard to get an appointment with sometimes. Especialy just over a note for work. And he is across town so I just pop into the clinic. I don't know if that really makes much of a difference when deciding what is making me sick though. God haydn, you already asked me this before... Anti-biotics and drinking are A OK, only reason its bad is cuz drinking weakens your immune system, so if u really wanna get better faster you won't drink... but thats not an option so just keep taking them and it'll be fine
