Good question Tim. That's debatable.

When using 'god' as a part of a generic term, it is not capitalized. Ie: "he has the body of a god!"

When you're referring to God, specifically (as with Christianity/Judiasm/Islam,etc.) then it is. But really, I'm not about to get picky with capital letters here.

what if when you're using it in a blasphemous way? i'm tempted to say capital G, but i think if it was a lower case g the Big Man upstairs wouldn't frown on it as much.

I would think that 'oh my god' can be classified as more of a general term than specific. You're referring to 'my' god, you're not like OH MY CATHOLIC GOD UP IN HEAVEN or something.

but somebody that is worried aboot blaspheming wouldn't say "OH MY CATHOLIC GOD IN HEAVEN!" cause that'd be the same as saying "oh my God". they're both the same.

maybe people who are concerned aboot spending a few more thousand weeks in purgatory just shouldn't say "oh my god" with or without the capital g.

Exactly.

And what's even worse, is Jessica Simpson saying "Oh my gah" bc she doesnt want to say "Oh my god" anymore bc of it's offensive nature. If you don't want to say "Oh my god" or a similar term in the first place, then don't.

The same could be said about curse words, like saying "effing" instead of "fucking". But I do this so Ima just put that out there and step away slowly. Hehe. I wish I didn't swear or use not-as-bad-as-swearing phrases. It just makes you look so unintelligable, and as thought you have a limited vocabulary with no better way to express yourself.
