Going Mac? Which one?

It's a miracle any computers work, there's so much code in them.

I would like a Mac too but my Dell works fantastic. Had it almost 2 years, it's fast, I can do lots of stuff with it, and it never crashes.

For os, I'm thinking Linux. The only thing I'm worried about is not being able to find software compatable with Linux.

trillian bleh.

gaim.sourceforge.net
firefox for web browsing
XMMS is the common winamp replacement, Rhythmbox makes for a decent itunes clone if you like that style UI.
Mplayer = great for video, xine is nice if you prefer a UI. Frankly I like just opening the files in mplayer and just fullscreening them.
Openoffice and abiword both handle Microsoft documents better than microsoft products.

Gaming is the only real fallthrough. WineX is pretty decient though.

I recommend for beginners to linux Mandrake, and if you're feeling adventurous, Fedora Core (make sure you set up dag/freshrpm apt repositories though. And make sure you install apt). And if you're really feeling adventurous, Debian unstable is pretty ridiculous.

Welcome. I said bye to the Bill machine about 3 years ago. Today I work for Microsoft. Funny world it is.

Still not using Windows at home though. Fedora Core 3 is shiny, pretty, and doesn't require much to do what I want it to.
