Court :( next thursday
Well On March 10, 2005 i will be going to court for a
$368 speeding ticket i got last March .. for the longest time i thought "hey i havent recieved my court date yet in the mail...maybe they forgot " Then in the beginging of Febuary jus as i was thinking it... ohh it came.. ..now im hoping the cop wont show up..but the odds of that are very slim.. ...So Im going to plead guilty....but what are the odds of the Judge minimizing the actual price.? .and how long will they give me to pay this amount off? Help! :S |

good luck, best bet is to pray the cop doesn't show.
be humble, nice, polite all that shit if you're gonna ask for extension/reduction. i know that sounds like common sense, but say the cop says something bad and you get all pissed off, the judge prolly won't like that. btw: that ain't shit. i've received a $580 ticket before. |

if your going to plead guilty tell the judge you would like a reduction. be sure to explain that you are a student and only work part time or something....then he'll probably say something like "would this high a fine place undue hardship on you?" to which you reply yes.
you may be able to get it reduced quite a bit depending on the judge. generally you can be sure to get about half reduced. |

p.s. excuses are for losers, and it will just make you seem more guilty. |

Maybe you'll just get lucky and the police officer wont show up..
I had an Excessive speading ticket, i ended up just paying for the ticket and not havnig to go through the hassle of going to court..but then again my ticket was not as high as yours |

Two best pieces of advice in this thread:
- STOP SPEEDING & p.s. excuses are for losers, and it will just make you seem more guilty. worked for the gov't for two years, heard every life story/excuse in the book and didn't really make me any more sympathetic. I had a lot more respect for honesty, something like 'yeah, I fucked up, but I still need help' works. |

^^ yeah after that ticket you would think i would learn my lesson, but sometimes when im running late for skool or work..i tend to speed...not a good idea!
on another note yeah i know i said before in my first post i am pleading guilty.. i can really say anything when ur ticket reads going 98 in a 50 zone.. The only thing i wanted to know was how much time they would give me to pay this amount off..or if they would reduce the price of it..but i guess it depends on the judge? |

If the cop doesn't show then obviously don't plead guilty because you'll automatically get off.
However, apparently if it's the cop's day off and they choose to go to court they get paid triple time (RCMP anyhow), which is pretty good motivation for them to show up. I'd do what everyone else says - plead guilty, tell them you are a student, and hopefully get a reduced fine. Which reminds me, I still need to pay my last ticket. |
