Attention allergy sufferers!

I miss Seldane...that stuff was the bomb. Nothing else works for me. Reactine worked for 3 years, and Aerius worked for 1 season. But now nothing
can assuage my suffering...Aerius is the strongest over-the-counter stuff you can get...I don't wanna have to pay for prescriptions!!!!!!

Has anyone else found that their allergies have gotten worse over the last few years?

*cries*

I definitely agree that mine have gotten worse. Gotta love the permafried bloodshot eyes look.

I had a crazy attack the other night at my girlfriend's place so I went to Safeway to get some meds and they had every single type locked up! I damn near broke the frikkin glass.

The nasal orgasms can be fun to a point, but when you start to worry about your nose staying attached to your face, it needs to stop!!

The only consolation is that this is a sign of seasons to come.

hmm i dont remember.. i started getting them about 2 years ago. i just finished the shots last month! i think i paid about $100 but i could be completely off

my allergies used to be absolutely horrible though. they were definately worth it! summer's usually the worst season for me but i dont think ill be having any symptoms this year. i used to be allergic to cats but now whenever im around my friend's cat i dont get sniffly or teary eye'd any more

That is so cool. The majority of my hatred for cats stems from the fact that I can barely see after I've been around one. I'm gonna have to check that out!

after a scary visit to the allergy doc a few months ago im completely scared of shots now.

anyone kinda addicted to teh allergy meds? sometimes im not sure if its a cold or allergies and i take a reactine and everything just feels better. i recently found out that it kinda helps my eczema too.. could be totally a mental thing, but i cleared up my skin a bit.

yeah when you first start the shots you get a shot twice a month for about 3 months, then it levels off to once every month

Is there a specific time of year that you have to start getting the shots?

And is it $100/shot or total?

Benedryl seems to work for most patients in acute care settings. I had a crazy allergic reaction to some medication a few months ago...I nearly scratched my skin off and thought I had scabies, but the pharmacist told me that I was having an allergic reaction to something and told me to take some benedryl.

it was $100 total, but like i said earlier i could be completely off heh. i really dont remember exactly how much.

as for the timing of the shots, you need to start getting them AFTER your allergy season.

Reactine works well for my seasonal allergies, no drowsiness, long lasting.

benadryl works wonders whenever i get a breakout of hives (happens 1x a year or so) but makes me soooo drowsy, but it does a really good job.

Gah...Looks like I'm screwed then...I have Spring/Summer (outdoor/hayfever) and Fall/Winter (indoor) allergies. :soak:

Get your GP to refer you to Dr. Ross Chang. He's a great doc. i've been getting the shots weekly for about 6 months now and its really starting to work. it just sucks having to sit in a waiting room once a week to get in for your shot. i go to a walk-in clinic so the wait is like... forever.
