Really? I use it for Windows and Mac and have no problems with it. Just picked up an Airport Express so that I can stream music from my wireless iBook to my home stereo... very nice.

how so? I just use it to organize playlists and burn cd's and it does both very smoothly and efficiently in OSX, haven't looked into alternatives for the mac yet though.

i love my ZEN.

- Touch Pad Control for fast scrolling
- Up to 24hrs continuous playback1
- Up to 97dB Signal-to-Noise Ratio - as good as expensive hi-fi systems!
- 20GB hard drive holds up to 10,000 WMA or 5,000 MP3 songs
- Create and customize playlists on-the-go
- Unique search function locates any song, album or artist
- USB 2.0 for faster transfer
- 4-band custom equalizer and advanced EQ presets let you customize your music playback
- FM radio, voice and FM recording via optional wired remote control

The best part is really the battery life.
I paid about as much as an iPod mini for this thing.

bigger/heavier
the physical interface is : ( that touch pad is way harder to use than the ipod wheel and is way too twitchy for my taste
need to install a driver on any machine you wanna use it on
cant use as a portable hd unless you go and partition space for portable hd use only
no firewire just usb2

I loved iTunes when I was using it on my bf's mac, and I was ECSTATIC when they brought it out for windows. Then I got a PII 366 lappy and couldn't use it anymore.

The second I got my PIII 850 lappy I installed iTunes. I fucking LOVE that program. What I DO NOT love is fricking Quicktime. Viral program that is.

I tried to get it jacked into my WindowsMedia, atleast thats a little nicer. Still, no luck. Apple licks on this one. Plus on top of that, it rebuilt my music library here at work, fucken knocked out all my DIR's. I tell you if this happened at home I would have lost it.

Using AppleScript, Perl and Apache, I'm going to set up my iBook so that I can control iTunes with my cell phone. Neat.

i hated it at first, but now i love it - if you're switching from winamp, it's a pretty jarring change, but it's actually quite a robust and cool jukebox program with some nifty features. I was using it as my primary music player long before I got myself an ipod.

I use rhythmbox, an itunes clone.

Works great. No complaints. My type of MP3 player.

Heh. Rhythmbox takes external commands, so all you'd need on a cell phone is some way to send a command (say, over... ssl?) into the comp like "rhythmbox next" and huzzah! Controlled!

One time I was playing on my laptop at a friend's place in Van when I lived in Burnaby and at one point I said "Whoops"

He says, "What?"

"I accidentally just turned on my stereo."

He falls over laughing...

The one thing I hate about iTunes is you can't queue up mp3's like you can in Winamp.

That alone kills it for me.

I only use it to stream to my Airport Express.

sure you can - just make a custom playlist and you can queue up anything you want from your library.

But I don't want to make a custom playlist... can't i just make iTunes my default player and double click on a mp3 to play it... then add more tracks as I want?

How hard is that to implement?

Winamp uses Playlists.
iTunes uses a library _and_ playlists.

The idea is that you drag them from your library into your playlists. Have different playlists for friends and everything. Sort by whatever you want it to load by, then hilight them all and drag.

hell, you can drag and drop from your desktop into your playlist too.

The only difference is it takes 1 more button click than winamp

Using Windows iTunes, is it possible to burn an mp3 disc with separate folders? I've only been able to burn one playlist.
