The PNE Forum.....
I've finally realized that my fondness for the forum buildiing has been misguided... memories of seeing bands there, that I loved growing up, is what more so fueled my love for it.
I've seen Tool, Soundgarden, Marilyn Manson (twice), Slipknot, Rob Zombie, Powerman 5000, Monster Magnet, Fear Factory and quite a few others too. After last nights show at the forum (Taste of Chaos) I REALLY TRULY realized how piss poor the sound is in there. Drowned out and way too fucking loud was the call for the evening... even knowing most of the songs for most of the bands didn't help much for being able to pick out a song too quickly. I really wish the show had of stayed at the Plaza of Nations... at least the sound there is a lot clearer. |

Oh I had a great time anyways but it really sucks having to strain so hard to hear the vocals and not have them drowned out by the music.
I know that I'll attend many more shows at the forum building.... I guess the sound is just one of those things you have to live with. |

Just the sheer size of the venue, makes it very difficult to have a full frequency spectrum response completely audible in every pocket of the venue. |

^^ sound at plaza was always DOPE.. it pounded and u can reallllly feel that bass... and it was hella clear... it had like 10 speakers stacked at every pole.. PNE sounds SUCKS DICK.. from the front to the middle its ok.. but once u hit the back..its shitty.. i was talking to my friends and i didnt even have to shout... the companies needa do sumthint bout the sound at pne asap! |

^^ Its really expensive to get it perfect....unless if you pack the place to the tits, its really hard to compensate for a lot of the sound reflections which occur in empty spaces.....the only real way to fix it, is to throw an engineering team at it, and that's pretty costly, especially for a multi purpose venue...Plaza had better sound because of that particular reason, but as soon as it starts to lack in attendance, the crappier it sounds....

Last show I attended @ the forum was Foo Fighters opening for Red Hot Chilli Peppers...
Sound was grudgingly tolerable. But, I was shocked to realize that the show was a fascist event; NO standing! NO dancing! NO moving from stadium seats to dance on the floor! NO smoking (of _anything_) {flouted! With goons hunting and sniffing!} This was THE last stadium-style show I've ever attended, and will ever attend. The largest gig I will ever attend is @ the Commodore. (BTW, Damian Marley!!!!!!!!!! 19/11/05) Frosty ("Welcome to JamRock!!!") |

when i saw Chemical Brothers there, the sound was incredible. LOUDEST show i've ever been to, but still sounded crisp & bass heavy. Needless to say, they tour with their own sound rig.
I've seen several other bands there (Nirvana, Ministry, NIN, Sepultura, Helmet, Butthole Surfers) and i don't remember the sound being a problem... but maybe that's because i was too high. |
