I got a deal on CD-R's!
Spindle of 50 Fuji 48X CD-R's at London Drugs $12.99
Score! That's a good deal. :) But the final bill? $26.77!! Yup - $10.50 copying levy tax and $3.28 tax on the new total. So I paid more to the government in taxes than for the CD-R's. What a rip! Plus the government is probably gonna give the $10.50 to the likes of Usher and Madonna, and I don't have any of their music. :( :( :( Last time I bought CD-Rs there was no extra tax.

Wow, that fucking sucks man. The goverment is way, way too intrusive. Guaranteed the bureaucracy needed to run the new tax eats up most of it, and the rest goes to the big name labels. If that isn't slavery to the big corporations what is? They coerce and threaten us with lawsuits, and then pressure our government to tax us to pay them money for buying CDs which are used for underground music!

Actually the price at LD works out to 26 cents per CD-R before taxes which is lower than any other actual store around here where the prices are 40-80 cents (Abbotsford/Chilliwack), but I'll check out NCIX too.
They're over 100 km away (gas cost for a trip about $12) and probably have a shipping charge plus they would be required to collect the friggin CD tax too.

i read a while back that that tax is why DLin music isnt illegal in canada
the canadian government didnt expect pirating music to be such a big deal so they did this shit up where a % of the money spent on cd-r's goes to the recording industry bla bla baah im probably full of shit though.
