My laptop's FUBAR.

It needs a new mainboard due to a power problem that's not solderable. Price? $700. Can I afford the repair/a new lappy? Not a snowball's chance in hell. I even checked Ebay, and I found almost every available mboard (speed-wise) for my model (Compaq Armada M700) on there EXCEPT the one I need (PIII 850).

For those of you on my various messenger lists, this means minimal/no more evening chats for the next while whilst I figure out what I'm going to do. :(

I'll talk to my friend that deals in these sort of things and see if he can find you a Mobo for cheap. :)

you can get a brand new laptop for $870 from generic.
