wisdom teeth complications

had i known they were going to end up whipping out the gigantic drill to CUT INTO MY JAWBONE to get the right side one out, i would have said forget it..

now it's day 4, left side still swollen, right side gigantic and lockjawed and paralyzed. i feel something's wrong there. my dentist is inspecting me tomorrow for possible infection/dry socket.

at least my jean chretien impersonation has never been so stellar!

haha, when I had mine I had noooo problems at all, besides eating solids for about a week. Just ice it and stock up on the codine :p

that sux...i got my first wisdom tooth like a month ago...just started to poke through and i already dont want to get them out.

i got mine removed at the hospital and sleeping. but when i woke up i was in no pain it was mint.

why do you have to have them taken out anyway?

ask for hydromorphone because the pain is "unbearable"

hehehe.

You have to have them taken out for a few reasons...
one, it's digging into your jaw or your other teeth and causing pressure/pain
two, they start to pop halfway through and food gets stuck in there causing infections.. nasty.. plus you get pain like a baby that's teething. yechhh!!

well, they're gone, it's a week later, i'm STILL swollen, and i'm going back to the dentist. half my face is still semi-paralyzed

Luckily evolution caught on in my family and it doesn't look like I will ever get my wisdom teeth. Good thing too because there is definitely no room for them in my mouth!

this post scares me....all four of mine are impacted ("all the way through") and the dentist hounds me to get them out....i still haven't because im a pussy! lol.

I thought "impacted" meant they hadn't come through. I am totally fucking frightened to get mine out and I really don't wanna and my man is trying to trick me into doing it... BUT HE WONT GET AWAY WITH IT.

I am really scared of the cotton they put in ur mouth. i have this thing against cotton in my mouth. its like nails on chalk, it kills me. *shudders*

and I'm also scared of big drills cutting my jaws... 3 of my teeth are already mostly through... is it worse the longer i wait?

IM SO SCARED.

i'm going on the IV drip that "puts you to sleep"....basically just cuts off memory stuff, like a night of heavy drinking. I'm lucid to those doign the operation so i can move and stuff and i look like i'm awake, but after i start counting down from 10 everything goes black and i just sorta wake up a few hours later.

Had that done when i had other teeth extracted when i was a kid (four adult teeth yanked).

and yea, is it worse the longer i wait??? i dont think things can get more worse than they are now though lol :(

yes it's worse the longer you wait!
the older you get the worse your healing time becomes.. GET THEM OUT.
Ash, if most of yours are partially through, it'll be a picnic. My left one was halfway through and it came out in five minutes. My last operation on my top two teeth, they were partially through and out in five minutes. It's just the lower right one that was impacted.

but i think i have one thats like almost through but hasn't broken the top yet.. .and i am wondering if it would be better to jus wait till that one comes in to get them all out at once, then thay'd all be easy?
