but then again, I've picked up about 5 chords and am well on my way to being able to play 'Holland 1945' so things ain't so bad. Just wish my fingers wern't killing me!

make sure your not too tensed with your left hand, don't look at your right hand, don't hunch, takes a few weeks to grow callouses so that your fingertips don't hurt.

Still gotta look at ol' righty now and then though, make sure I'm striking only the strings I'm meant to be.

Yeh just don't make a habit of it cuz it can be a really big drawback for an advanced player to be staring at his right hand. Try feeling ur way instead, find the sucessive strings then do them slowly in unison over and over really slow, then speed up.

I'm trying to learn flemenco style, i can play some pieces but i dream of playing like some of those spanish guys.

i hope to hell you're not using steel string... if so.. go straight to a music shop and get nylon strings! GO NOW!

NO!!!......You must learn the TRUE ways of this addiction!...Ok, so It might be rough at first, but eventually you get used to it. And even if you do use nylon strings, your still going to get pain. Starting off nylon may be a lot easier to handle, but if you start out with Steel it'll make for a better transition If you choose to move on to something like the electric guitar.
You can't beat the sound of steel either...

uh, you can't really play flamenco-style with steel strings...

Yeh nylon gives the correct sound and feel for playing flemenco. I got an old yamaha that i use for playing nylon. Strings are wider apart and the action is a bit higher, smaller fret board though then my martin.

you need to manicure your nails on your picking hand too :) I taught myself some flamenco-style picking a long time ago but it's probably not using the correct technique...

Shouldn't throw nylon strings on a steel-string guitar either, it can be really bad for it as the tension a steel-string is built for is way more than nylons can provide.
