It's times such as these that I remember why I stopped actively searching for DJ gigs. Since the motherfucker didn't want to talk to me over the phone I am going to tell all you a little story of how he has turned into a very shady promoter (at least to me).

Rewind a week ago to a party called 4Play where for over a week I'm told by Tony that my timeslot is 12-1, ok cool I get there and am about to play when scotty oh is about to start his garage set and also says he's supposed to play 12-1

I get bumped 1-2 , after talking to the promoters everything is cool

dabbler drops in , then im bumped again

My new slot is now 3-4 , at this point I'm wondering if I want to wait that long (as I don't rave anymore) so I tell them its gonna cost more money to have me play as I'm just sitting there waiting for 3 hours.

At this point Tony apologizes and says it was his fault as him and the co-promoter had different slots and that was where the problem happened.

I was mad at this point but I didn't really let it show, I just said , hey man time is money I gotta wait longer I want an extra $20 for gas.

I get on , play and at 3:30 another DJ gets on stage and tries to bump me off .... we settle for 3:45

unbelievable , but by now I'm used to it so I dont really care , I play my shit and leave

Flash Forward to today and I get a call out of the blue from Tony saying I'm not playing at his stage at Apex

I think the excuse was he had a friend who was bringing in lasers and wanted a time to play so they bumped me off. This call woke me up today so I wasnt in the sharpest state of mind.

I say ok but then I wake up and I can smell the bullshit

I call him back saying that I was already fucked around at 4play and that this is going to far

Turns out the fucker held a grudge for me saying I was going to leave the party and said that I had pissed off other dj's throughout the night

Maybe they were mad cause the timeslots were fucked up asshole? ever thought of that? you even claimed it was you're own fault

I'm the one who took all the shit from his mistake and he has the nerve to tell me that people were mad at me.

So I'm calling him out on this today over the phone and when I call him back he says "other dj's dont wanna play my stage because of you ... i dont wanna talk about it" and then proceeds to hang up on me.

So here I am on internet land .. showing you all how much of a tool Tony really is , because he wouldnt let me talk to him so I need to get this shit off my chest.

What I don't get is how he could be mad at me for wanting to cancel , I was ok with being bumped once , but twice is another story. He went from the apologetic promoter to blaming me today over the phone for his lack of organization and that really struck a chord in me and I wasn't going to let it slide.

do you honestly think he's the only promoter guilty of this? he's not. this happens to djs all the time. not that it's right, it's just not as rare as you're putting it out to be.

its the fact that he has the audacity to be mad at me and cut me off his stage at apex for something that was his fault at the root

and then hanging up on me ... I felt super-disrespected

but ya ... if this isn't that uncommon then you shouldnt be surprised as to why I don't actively search for gigs anymore

naw man I'm not trying to make you look bad as it was around a year ago exactly since our last encounter and it wasn't the best encounter lol. It's just you saw how many ppl were at the show and you expected tony to give you more money just cause you got bumped off by better and more respectable dj's that were playing that's just not cool man, and it's his stage at apex if he doesn't want you playing at it then you don't play at it just keep it at that, complain to your friends about this not on a public forum!

due to a miscommunication between the PROMOTERS, timeslots got fucked up.
now in all reality, the only people they have to blame for that, are themselves.
(an honest mistake)
and seeing as how george was paid, and paid extra for waiting, they don't really owe him any favours...HOWEVER, they had him booked, and ADVERTISED as such. far be it from me to tell them what to do, but it would be a better idea to realize, that all fault lies with the miscommunication between them, and not with george for bitching.

oh and yes, we all know this drama should be kept under wraps, but the only reason people say that, is cause it's bad for business...namely theirs. there's a lot of bullshit that goes on, that i personally feel should be aired, as then it's less likely to happen again.

this thread reminds me exactly why i gave up wanting to play for 'rave' promoters in Vancouver a long time ago.....broken promises, disrespect, shit equipment...the list goes on.

at the end of the night , everything was ok ... it all worked out

but today he decided to hold a grudge for something that was his own fault , and hung up on me cause he didnt want to deal with it

that was the whole point of this thread ... the first half is just a story explaining it ... don't let that confuse you as to why i started the thread

I understand the point of the post, I am not defending his actions...his name IS "shifty" after all..

My point is that if someone asked me for more money just to hang out at my party for a bit longer to play, I prolly wouldn't have them play my stage at apex because I would think that they don't even enjoy being there. So why bring em?

I know you were advertised and all, it's still bullshit. Just trying to explain his motivations maybe?
