Idiot management.
I don't know if y'all are going to find this as funny/bizzare as I did, but anyways:
A lot of my friends have heard me go on at length about my office manager @ work. I don't spend a lot of time at the office, basically 15 minutes in the morning and 15 minutes at the end of the day.. most of the time I'm in the great outdoors. Suffice to say, I AM GLAD THIS IS THE CASE. Because if I did have to hang around our office, and around my office manager, for any length of time at all, I would go nuts. I don't know how the other normal people at our company do it! She is just completely out to lunch. She's tempermental, bitchy, and often just not in touch with any kind of "reality" as we know it. Case in point: I glanced at our office message board the other day and saw a reprinted email.. It warns (in the most alarmist of tones) of a new threat that is facing drivers today. You see, apparently there are these gangs, right? And in order to initiate their new members, these gangs drive around without their headlights on. When they see another car flash its headlights in order to tell them to turn their lights on, THAT'S HOW THEY PICK THEIR PREY. Then that car gets chased down, and its occupants get SHOT. According to the email, this trend is sweeping west, it's been spotted in Ontario, then the praries, and now it is HERE. This is an URGENT WARNING from people in positions of authority, DO NOT FLASH YOUR HEADLIGHTS!!! The problem is, it's also utter bullshit. It's an urban myth! It's been around for ages.. I was just shocked to find it on our fricking office note board! I couldn't let it slide, I had to ask our secretary, who's a really cool level headed girl.. "WTF is this??" She goes "I know! Sandy put it up there!" "Is she serious??" "Yes! She put it up there in all seriousness!" "But... it's bullshit! It's been proven to be bullshit" "I know! I saw that on the internet like 10 years ago!" And so on and so on. Yeah, OK Sandy. Gangs are initiating their members by picking random vehicles and shooting the people in them. Here in Canada, hotbed of violent gang activity. In fucking SASKATCHEWAN no less (I'm pretty sure it was name checked specifically). I guess I must have just missed the news report about all the countless shootings that have already occured. Or maybe newscasters just didn't feel it warranted mention... what's the big deal if a couple of gangs happen to fire into a couple of moving vehicles, killing their drivers and leading to an orgy of death and destruction? That's not news.. except for THE INTERNET! And apparently this activity is spreading westward. (In the same way that killer bees gradually migrate??) Let's just make this official.. I don't know if anyone would find this as borderline alarming as I did.. not the thing about gangs, but the fact that this person is, in large part, RUNNING MY COMPANY. To quote Lewis Black... "... the mind reels!" I don't want to turn this into a Dilbert thread or nothing, but feel free to post your own idiot management story.

my office is just nuts. it's in the plant, so it's not a total office environment, but my boss is nuts, but it's cool. we yell a lot. and argue and throw things and kick each others asses. not exactly your typical office. hah
