Shoddy Formal Attire
I appreciate the fact that as you leave your teens and move into your 20s, there are ever-increasing demands on young adults to wear more formal clothes. However a great deal of individuals in this age category simply have absolutely no idea about what looks good - and moreover, they often demonstrate what doesn't look good. If you don't wear formal clothes properly, you might as well not wear them at all - it makes you look juvenile and altogether sloppy. (Sloppy and formal only go together at the Academy Awards)
So I offer you formal-clothes newbies a checklist. Should you say yes to any of these, you need to re-evaluate you attire. - does this outfit look like it was handed down to me? (get it tailored - its not that expensive) - does my tie look like my father gave it to me in the 80s? - is my tie knot smaller than my thumb? - is my tie knot crooked? (ALWAYS use at least a single windsor) - is my shirt wrinkly? - do I have any stains on my clothes? - am i wearing white socks? - if you don't know, wear black - do my shoes look like I got them at PayLess? - you can tell so much about a person's shoes - are my shoes not polished? - are my pants not hemmed properly? - am i wearing a classy belt? - does my watch look like I have just come from summer camp? - have I not shaved today? - are my pants and jacket different colors? (Avoid this until you are more aware of style) - am i not comfortable wearing this in public? May the list continue..... |

formal looks awesome on some people but other just can't pull if off even if they dress to the 9's. some people just look better in causal clothing. I like to dress up makes me feel good about myself. I also like to dress like a bum sometimes cause its comfy.
