I think it's just that people naturally promote what they like or want to encourage others to like ( or perhaps attend).
It's the same kind of thing as wearing a shirt with the logo of a band you like.

When I used to use kazza and wanted to shut it down I'd often check to see what people were downloading off me first. If it was some of my kick ass rave tracks I'd usually let them finish and then shut it off, but if it was one of my siblings hurting rap or country songs I'd just shut it off and leave them with an incomplete download.

It was natural for me to like it that other people were into the same music as I was.

In SMF this is a default option & I love it. No annyoing moving avatars, no endless sigs that are larger than the posts themselves, just the forum + u! <3
