Oh snap!

you have one mother of a virus.

then I suggest: stop using you computer. re-format or get someone who knows how to do it asap.

the longer you wait, the more risk you have for your hardware becoming corrupted. which would suck, majorly.

So it's not booting into the OS? Why not run a boot disk and run some system utilities to check the partitions and scan for virus's in DOS?

reformat, do a clean install of windows & then get a good file recovery utility, it can pull up data from your hard drive up till about 4 or 5 reformats ago.

(lost so much music so many times, "corrupted" images, got them all back time after time)

good luck!

this happened to me about 18 months ago - big nasty monster virus ate my puter

and seeing as i had not idea what had happened - took it into a shop, they were able to salvage some of my stuff like movies, pics and other documents, and put it onto a cd (about $35)- then i had to reformat my whole system, but i didn't end up losing everything

then again, wasn't all bad - got everything upgraded to XP, office 2004 and a whole bunch of new programs (i *heart* getting things for free. thanks kazaa... *shhhh*!!!)

simple solution:

1. purchase a cheap new 40GB hard drive
2. purchase an external usb hard drive enclosure
3. remove infected hard drive from computer
4. install new hard drive
5. install new OS and antivirus/spyware progams etc
6. after installing all software etc.
7. put old infected HD into external usb HD (DO NOT HOOK UP)
8. open up diagnostic software
9. attach external HD with infected drive to USB port
10. run diagnostic software for USB drive.

reformatting doesn't wipe the drive.

this has been tested and works
