americanized political campaign in burnaby
andrew stewart who is/was running for "team burnaby" is a douche. just for these simple reasons:
they set up a series of 3 signs in different parts of burnaby, 1: crime is the issue 2:now bby's crime rate is higher then SURREYS! 3:blah vote us blah first time i saw this i couldn't help but laugh, it struck me as "vote for me, because you don't wanna living in surrey" humourous of course, but really is that relevant? this guy's saying how bby's crime rate has gone up drastically. yet according to the rcmp, crime's actually down in burnaby. their team/campaign was parading around this old azn guy who was the victim of a home invasion, and even he didn't know if he'd vote for this douche. just a brutal campaign, nothing but scare tactics and bullshit. i mean what type of stance is anti-crime? have you met a pro-crime politician? fuckin lame. glad i got my vote on. |

Focussing on the perceived americanization of Canada inherently dismisses the imperialistic agenda of the Canadian government.
-All of Paul Martins statements of late have referred to the need for Canada to move up on the world stage. The situations in Afghanistan, Haiti, and Iraq could cement the notion. -Government is just the adminastrative representational body of the ruling class. American corporate investiture in Canada makes up less than 20%. The recent surpluss of money brought in by Canadian corporations from foreign invesiture equals roughly 3.5 billion dollars currently. (the surpluss is what is left over from comparing moneys made by foreign companies in Canada and taken out vs the moneys made from Canadian corporations inf foreign business landscapes brought back into the country -Canada was built on Colonialism and the subsequent massacre of Indigenous peoples then and the sometime violent oppression of Indegenous peoples now. -The role of government in issuing anti-union legislature which supports employers that come right out and state that there goal is to break the union. As much we would like to believe that the negetive traits of our Country, are solely as a product of US influence and intereference, the larger and scarier issue we face is that the "Nation of Canada" is doing just fine being its own oppressive imperialistic state. We saying this, i do believe that US government and a large contingent of big corporate business is at the core of many of the woes of the continuing oppression of citizens of nations abroad and home. But to push this matter in front, is reactionary and detrimental to our own abilities of someday holding the government of Canada and ruling classes responsible. |

I said voting is a waste of time (I meant for me) because I'm happy with the way things are right now and I don't want to change them. If I weren't happy then I would probably make a effort to vote. I guess I should of been more clear in my post. |
