Cellphone Sales: A question and rant..
I purchased a Samsung a680 (during my lunch break) at regular priced value as my sanyo was damaged and I was on a contract with bell and had to pay regular price for a new phone. I love the phone, but as soon as I looked through the phone book to start adding names/numbers I noticed that there were already existing entries in the phone, and 80 of them. There I was expecting to find a brand new phone only to get a used one. I flip through the photo "gallery" to see if there were pictures in it too, and there was. Obviously, the phone had been already used many of times if the person who used it had enough time to input 80 different phone numbers in it.
I go back to bellmobility, state my situation and they exchange it for me for a new one. There I am thinking my new phone is okay. Was satisfied, but had no time to inspect the phone as my hour lunch break is nearing an end..only to realize today on my day off that the LCD screen is messed up.. it has 2 white blank streaks going across it when it's lit up... So I have to go back again to have it exchanged for ANOTHER. Only to realize that I don't have my receipt with me. I know that for an exchange this shouldn't be a problem, especially if it is for the same thing of the same value... but I can't be sure how flexible they will be. Then again, they forgot to give me my receipt the first time so it's possible that they forgot again this time. I'm really peeved that i have to exchange a phone a third time and will be really pissed if they give me heck for not having my receipt because I have a feeling they didn't even give me the receipt for the 2nd exchange. If you're going to sell me a used phone, at least make it look brand new. On the other hand, if I'm paying 200 bucks for a new phone from a company I've been loyal to, I don't want to be given a used phone. I'm looking at the box of the "new" phone I got and it has a sticker on it that says "User #17 Ph# 778-233-0966 VM# 3475 ESN: 4113502168" so I'm beginning to think that they sold me a courtesy phone. For those who work in phone/sales or for bell mobility, do you know whether not having my receipt will cause a big problem? If yes, then I'd speak directly with the manager instead of a sales rep.. cause I'm pretty peeved already, despite the fact that I have great sympathy for those who work in sales. Input appreciated Thanks-Yoko Last edited by yoko*; Nov 28, 05 at 09:30 PM. |

go back to the original store you got it at, they'll have record of the purchase on file I think
make sure when you go back to the store you have EVERYTHING with you that the phone came with. honestly, if they give you shit, DON'T TAKE IT, the people in the stores are really known to pass the buck and never really try to help customers...hell if they still don't take it, I'll come back in with you :p (I work in one of their offices..) hopefully it works out, that's a really good phone model (I've got one myself..<3 the external display!) |

Well it's not just another story, just a general statement.
My bills are different everytime. My Fido account is completely fucked up. I have the City Fido account, and I have never paid the same amount for two consecutive months. for example: Last month I paid $245 (I don't know why). this month I paid $150. I'm supposed to pay $45/month. I don't even bother calling them anymore. Have you noticed how they have all these terms and conditions worded so weird that just confuse the living shit out of you? After 2 hours of arguing with a Fido rep, the result is always the same; me: "fuuuuuuuuuuck you and fuuuuuuuuuuuck your stupid company. fuuuuuuuuck your bills and fuuuuuuuuck this phone. fuuuuuuuuuck these colorful bills and fuuuuuuuck your corporate bullshit. FUUUUUUUUUUCK YOU!" /ugh |

I hate cell phone companies. Rogers is really bad, my phone is so messed up that I gave it a new name "cracked out". Like ometimes I flip it open and the screen stays black for up to 10 seconds then starts flashing, but it still works. Sometimes it looses a signal on a busy street outside and then a second laster has a full signal. Sometimes it says I have a voice mail message when I don't and keeps reminding me to check my voice mail messages.
The phone is "cracked out" and Rogers won't fix it for me, so I got to buy a new phone and pay the full price for it, it sucks. |

I recently switched to Bell Mobility because Telus was ass raping me for rediculous amounts of money. Bell I find is a much better company. There shouldn't be any probs, go to the store that originally sold you the phone. They should make things right, if they want to keep your business.

So it's all sorted out thanks.
I went up to whoever was available (which I think happened to be the supervisor at the time) and pulled my best "unsatisfied customer" voice and went on a rant about how this was the third time I had to come in to do an exchange. The guy I was dealing with was telling me that Bell was not in the business of selling used phones, so I told him that "that doesn't explain why there were 80 phonebook entries, a couple pictures and many call histories in the cellphone that was given to me, so obviously the phone that was sold to me for $200 had been used".. and all he could do was agree with me and apologize. When I left, he told his "team mate" that they should ensure that this never happens again, loud enough and likely intentionally so that I would hear it as I was walking out. No receipt-no problem. They had it on file. |
