Theres not enough good vinyl coming into Vancouver anymore (Trance wise)
I see all the big labels that Armin menchions on ASOT, and its nothing but new releases... were are those smaller labels that no one has heard of, those artists that youve never seen but yet have good tracks, thats why I order online, the local shops dont have enough of a selection nowadays. With the coming trends though, some tracks dont even make it to vinyl but yet you can see the mp3 for grabs for a measly 3 UK pounds... vinyl is slowly dieing sad to say :(. A few years back there were a few shops so each shop catered to a diff audience of trance, I remember Boomtown had more techy shit, On Deck (old location...not the tinseltown one) had HardHouse, Beatstreet focused on HardDance. |

so you're saving just over 3 buck a record... definitely significant. but if you weren't buying 13 at a time, the difference would be less. trust me, when you see imports at shops over here for $16.99, it's not because we're gouging. in fact the 16.99 import 12" is probably the lowest % mark up we make on any product.
i'm not gonna sit here & tell you you should pay more to support local business, competition is competition and we have to do what we can to deal with it. luckily for us there are still droves of customers who prefer a physical shop. Although i personally buy most of my vinyl through my own shop as i can pay wholesale... i do some online shopping and have been very impressed with the prices/service i've recieved from certain web retailers. |

jk, i dont think vinyl is dying, its just being harder to get because of the new CDJ/MP3 revolution. Stores are closing because people are turning to programs like FS and Serato, or CD'Jing. Vinyl prices are higher because DJ's are everywhere nowadays, called inflation. But i agree, not enough good trance coming to vancouver recently. Thats why im taking an empty record bag to europe this year, and coming back with it full :D . |

its all about digging for me...granted i have very limited time these days to go through all the genres I would like, but I always take the time to go through the back stock and see what I might find.
Shopping online for me just doesnt compare to going to the store, talking to the peeps, and shooting the shit with the crew. Plus I always get good service :) |

True ^^^^
Better service when you go to stores. I like going boomtown everyone is nice, helpful and patient there. I sometimes go thru backstock too, for something i might have missed, but its only when i have time, i usually dont nowadays. But whenever i go to Beatstreet, theres a wierd feeling in that store. |

shopping online takes the fun out of it imo. when you find something you've wanted for ages in a store, its like christmas and shit. big ups boomtown. |
