WHen someone sells something they 'sold' to you to someone else then play dumb
I wanted to buy this brake kit for my ride off this guy and was ready and willing to send him his asking price.
He said they are 'sold to me' and he would follow up when he got back from vacation in a week. So he come back, posts his parts for sale and somehow they are now maked 'sold'. I'm thinking WTF as I sent him 5 messages today and he said he didn't get any of them. THere is nothing worse than dreaming of getting exactly what you want for a whole week then getting screwed like this. I'm going to crawl back under my rock now. That it all. |

Man thats sucks!
It always happens to me especially if you buying from people on vwdov.ca:) People usually sell parts within there own group of friends etc.... It took me so long to finally get a set of wheels for my car. After finding the ones I liked, then settling on a price with the seller only to have him go out and sell them to his friend. This happen 3 different times with 3 different people oh well....I think it was an omen or something...... maybe they would of failed if you got them. Last edited by DJDeeb; Jan 26, 06 at 07:29 PM. |

I did ask and have not yet received a reply. I am hoping that they are marked 'sold' for me but I do know that is wishful thinking.
What were they? Complete Audi S4 front and rear brakes which would be a direct bolt on replacement for mine. Deebs... as you said he probably sold them to a guy in his Audi group and is just ignoring my messages. I just thought people would have some tact and just email me saying that he changed his mind. |

He had S4 calipers, carriers, rotors, pads and lines for both front and rear brakes. I remove all my components and replace with his.
We agreed on $1000US for the complete setup plus shipping and we would complete the transaction when he came back from vacation in a weeks time... which was on the 18th. Today he posts all the stuff up 'for sale' and I send him multiple messages asking for his Paypal information so I can send him payment and got no replies. It just upsets me that someone would get your hopes up then just leave you hanging without any sort of reply. They say bad luck comes in 3's. Well this was the 2nd as I lost out on some headlight components I really needed as well today. |

fuck. I had a big long reply and it logged me out.
Long story short: I wouldn't switch over to the s4's unless if you're sure you'll stay within manufacturers recommended specs for tire size (posted on your door sticker). Especially if you're just going to and from work. As soon as you go over those specs you'll have to change some of your steering linkage so it doesn't wear prematurely and you stay within alignment specs. Save yourself the money on the s4's and use the money for some killer wheels and tires Also, it's pretty unusual to get even front and rear rotor wear, as most of the braking is done in the front. Rotors usually last 2-4 times longer then your pads, they might just need machining unless if you've rat bagged the shit out of it. Also, unless if your brake fluid has been contaminated by oil or oil products *makes all the rubber in your brake system swell and not seal* brake fluid is good for about 2 years. Unless if you're DOT 5, which should be changed often but is only usually used for racing. (DO NOT put dot 5 in if you have abs!) To test if your fluid is good, open up the brake fluid resevoir and wipe your finger along the edges. If there's a fair amount of black slimey shit, get it flushed and bled. If not, save yourself the $100. |

The S4 brakes are a direct replacement snd don't affect clearance of my 19's.
The OEM brakes on my A4 are the weakest component of the car from every owners point of view. Due to the weight of the car the rotors are quite small and don't disappate heat well and brake fade is unreal. Upgrading the fronts to a larger rotor will help this out. Since these are all OEM AUdi parts on the same chassis it is pretty much plug and play as there is no known issues. Upgrading the rear is more for aesthetics. Since it was included I thought I would get it at the same time. In regards the to brake fluid. Most Audi guys do upgrade the fluid to a DOT 5.1 and flush it out every 2 years. |

Sweet.
Name me any OEM brake pad that's superior to an aftermarket and i'll give you $20. Since the rotor and caliper will fit in your 19's, and unless if you have any particular attachement to oem stuff, check out some aftermarket rotors and calipers. I know someone who does turbo's on domestics, I'll ask him if he does anything on luxary and imports if you want. |

I plan to upgrade to aftermarket pads after this winter. My OEM rears dust up so much I have to wash my wheels every 3 days.
Upgrading the turbo on my ride isn't that hard, it is getting the corresponding software to make sure it runs properly with the engine is the trick. Right now I am running APR stage 1+ and my ride goes pretty quick. I just want to make it stop just as well. |
