tooth getting removed.........
well i kne the day would come..
lol as some of u that have met me.. kno, i have croked(sp?) teeth (big shock) anyways.. i had this whole issue with one of my front teeth.. (its right beside my right front tooth and to the left of my right kaynine.. dunno what it's called).. so in about gr 3 i had like straight front teeth.. and i was going up this ice mound (the only way i could get in side my school).. i told this girl not to go down the hill.. and she did.. which caused me to fall flat on my face and push my tooth back.. now, i had no problems with it (either then being croked(sp?)).... when i moved here in July 2001.. like 2 days later i started getting this reeeeeeealllllyyyy painful pains in my tooth and gum area.. i go to the nearest dentist.. and he tells me i need a route canal.. so a few days later i come in and get it done.. well afterwards i started having problems above my tooth in the gum area.. it has been an on and off problem... i was like wtf... so he prescribed me some antibiotics.. still it came back.. couldnt really pay for any other dental work.. or get braces becuz my parents weren't covered.. sooo like a couple months ago i got fed up and went to see another dentist (my last dentist kinda pulled my bro's wisdom tooth and ripped his gums to shreds.. and he had to get 8 stitches in 1 spot.... bad dentist) so anyways.. the new dentist took an x-ray and said that the route canal was done badly.. and i had to get that tooth removed.. all fine and dandy but it cost alot of $$$$ jus to get my tooth removed.. and frankly my family didnt have it.. soooooo finally my mom got a new dentist that excepted her disability pension plan.. and i went to see him 2day.. he told me the dentist had not performed the route canal properly.. and that we COULD do another one.. but it would 98% not work.. so, only thing to do is get it removed.. now, i still need to remove 4 teeth before i get braces.. (over crowding) soooo im gonna start taking antibiotics (again.. for about a week)... and then once im done.. im gonna get my tooth removed.... and only after 2 weeks can i start getting work done for braces.. so im gonna be missing a FRONT tooth for 2 weeks.. which sucks.. and the doctor said that once my braces are off and they put a fake tooth.. it wont quite look like the other tooth... as long as the tooth doesnt look retarded, then im happy.. but im kinda scared.. considering i goto cadets monday, tuesday and wednesday's.. AND i deal with kids from 12-18 yrs old.. and i laugh and smile alot.. and im jus afraid of what they will say :( im very sensitive about my teeth.. and well.. i dont like getting made fun of.. and for 2 weeks im gonna havta pay that price.. blah :( im posting this cuz i need some support :( :( it's scary.. i wont be able to smoke or blaze for 2 weeks... cuz i kno if i do it will get infected... reeeeeeeeeaaaaaallllllyyyy actually makes me even more depressed.. but a girl's gotta do.. what a girls gotta do.. im jus so conflicted in this matter.. if ur in here to make fun of me.. please.. spare me. on another note.. that stabbing at that Richmond mall 2nite... my boyfriend works secruity at the mall.. and well, 1 of the men died in my boyfriend's arms.... thats so sad. well if the best thing is to get it removed because of infection that well you really have no other choice... I mean imagine getting some type of gum disease... not only would that spread but at the same time you can almost get blood poisoning from it.... I know what dental reconstruction is and stuff... Had all my front teeth smashed when my adult teeth came out... When it comes down to a dentist now days I am not afraid of them at all... I know alot of people who are just terrified.... Now my question is is that ok your getting the tooth removed.... however when it comes down to putting a fake tooth in do you have any idea how they are going to do it??? Cause that normally costs alot of money. Typically there are like 2 types of tooth implants they do... when is of course the fake tooth and it takes time for the gum to heal around it and it stays in its socket... but still it may come out out.... Or they also have the other way where they literally drill I guess you can call a bit in your upper jaw one and then hook up the fake tooth.... Eitherway I hope things turn out well...

i have no idea...
since i have over crowding.. i have to get 2 teeth removed from the top and 2 from the bottom.. after all the braces thing is done is when they will put the fake tooth.. the dentist i visted like a couple months ago said i would havta put the fake tooth in BEFORE the braces.. but he said it would NOT move.. but if im getting braces and it would NOT move.. how do u expect the rest of my teeth to get fixed.. since i have alittle bit of an over bite.. so i explained that to my new dentist and he said.. no no, u have to get the fake tooth put in AFTER.. and ye, it costs alot of money.. but since my mom has a disability pension.. and this doctor excepts it.. then i guess they will cover the fake tooth as much as they can with the plan and then pay the rest.. but that will prob be in a few yrs.. (depending how long the braces will be in).. im not to worried about the space when i have my braces on.. cuz at least ppl will see that im getting things fixed.. its jus the whole process WAITING for the braces to be put on with no front tooth. |

I had to get teeth pulled prior to me getting braces (which they initally said I didn't need and then said yes I needed them at the ripe old age of 16) and I remember the first time going into the dentist to get one of them pulled it totally fucking sucked because the freezing really didn't work at all and it was quite painful.
The whole tooth extration/braces thing was quite the ordeal, and it was quite uncomfortable (like not being able to eat anything on days when you had your elastics changed!), took a lot of adjusting and made me look 12 & I was totally self conscious about all of it..but in the end, let me tell you, no matter what, it's totally worth it. Damnit I love my smile now! |

ye, no pain no gain..
thats my motto for this.. i mean, i wanna make dancing my profession.. and well... people notice the teeth thing.. and i wont get jobs if my teeth aren't perfect.. sure, im gonna go through pain.. but it will be worth it in the end.. i jus dont wanna be laughed at when the front tooth is missing with no braces.. becuz i will FREAK! oh well, at least i will only have contact with people in cadorks.. and since im a high rank and they laugh i can report them ANDDD make them do alot of things.. hahaha plus sides.. ok, now im feeling better bout this. thanks <3 |

Too bad about losing a tooth.
Was the dentist who did the original root canal a specialist called an "endodontist"? They specialize in root canals. I have a friend who is an endodontist. He tells me all the time about the jobs that get sent to him. They do the tough jobs that are too hard for a regular dentists, and sometimes fix up bad root canal jobs done by others. They get more money for this than a regular dentist but sometimes nobody else can save the tooth. Actually all the dentists like to do root canals because they can charge quite a lot for them, but the regular dentists should only do the easy ones since they don't have enough experience on the problem cases. |

ye.. he did a really bad job..
and it didnt even touch my root .. the dentist said even if they tried.. it would more then likely not work out.. and plus this tooth is really croked and caused me too many problems.. so i jus might as well get it removed... and get a fake one put in.. dont mind about that too much.. its better for me. |

i'm sure it will totally be worth it!
when i was 14 i found out that i was supposed to have an operation on my jaw to reset it in the right spot (so i'd have to have screws put in my jaw and everything) cause i have an overbite. they also wanted to fill the space in between my two front teeth and make me wear a guard at night because i grind the hell out of my teeth when i sleep. but i didn't get it done cause i was worried about the outcome and scared to get the surgery. now i am off my mom's coverage and i regret not getting it done. it might be a hard process, but you will be so much happier when it's all done. imagine the feeling you will feel when you can smile with confidence! i'm excited for you! |

no doubt!!1
i never smile in pictures.. and when i do.. it's a closed mouth smile.. totally self concious about my mouth. becuz i kno people notice.. but it'll be worth it for sure! <3 i kinda cant wait.. im jus taking antibiotics for a week to get the swelling out of my mouth... and then things will be going from there... ahhhhh |

Hey Gia, my gf at work had to have teeth pulled (atleast 4, maybe more I can't remember) bc they were over crowded and therefore crooked, and she was doing this in prep for braces. A couple of the teeth were right at the front, just beside her front teeth, y'know. You will be amazed at how fast the holes close up once you get the braces on. Like SUPER fast.
Any yes kids can be cruel, but a lot of time they are really really empathetic. If they notice and you're embarrassed, let em know. We should give em more credit... Bc often when you open up to them they are really sweet/thoughtful about things and prolly won't make fun of you. Good luck hun! |
