I knew it....
So I knew this would happen before I made the fuckin purchase of this piece of shit that was sold me to me. With the hype of a warranty and what not that. Turns out they like to twist things in the warranty..... So I've just been fucked over 17,000 dollars and if you add the other shit involved another additional 10,000 dollars that I will need to pay for 5 years..
Whats really heart breaking about this whole ordeal is that I've been getting advice from my father to better myself in the future... sure the idea is great once when I make a purchase or attempt to make a purchase. I get ROYALLY fucked..... First time was trying to buy a home... had the funds the backing... nobody wanted to sell even though they had for sale signs up..... wasted to much fuckin time and run arounds.... Now I purchased this car with the intent that I wouldn't have to spend a fuckin load of money considering the piece of shit I used to own and got rid of...... this whole thing is absolutely fuckin bullshit.... |

At this point I really don't know if I should cry.... Almost didn't make it to work. Just like my last car I lost all electrical power after passing the vedder bridge... I have no emotion now I want to cry but I just don't really care anymore because everything just fucks up for me. So now the car is parked in the companies parking lot... dead... she won't turn over now... fantastic... dunno how the hell I am gonna get to global dj's tommorow now.... beautiful...
and FYI its a kia spectra 2002 and if kia tries to sell you there "amazing" warranty.... DON'T BUY IT.... I totally walked into it and am fucked now. |

If you lost all electrical while driving it could be your alternator is shot (pretty simple fix) and isn't charging your battery. You could kill your alternator by running your stereo really loud while having all your accessories cranked (a/c). Some alternators have up to a 5 year warranty on them, the usual is just 1-3.
Does it turn over at all? 90% of the time it's something simple like your battery terminals being corroded or one of them coming lose. It really sounds like it might be a charging problem if it's not your connec tions. |

when it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.
that sucks b0ld, same sort of shit happened to my mom's piece of shit hyundai, 'CANADA'S BEST WARRANTY' *cough cough*. If thats their BEST warranty, they ought to give there head a shake. Bumper to bumper is correct, but certain things dont count. |

At the same time though, it's beyond retarded to condemn a company because of a shitty alternator, which is a pretty common repair for most makes and models of every company. KIA's for the most part though, are shyte, no arguing Dealership won't honour a clearly written warranty? Yell, scream and threaten to sue. It's not the company, it's the service manager who's trying not to have to pay out. Last edited by Goat; Feb 28, 06 at 09:59 PM. |

The driver's seatbelt wouldn't even retract back, and they wouldnt fix it under warranty, they told us we had to pay for it. Holy shit I yelled and screamed, and they fixed it alright. But straight up Hyundai's are DISPOSABLE cars. The lease is just about up and I'm amazed it lasted 4 years, wow. |

Ya, getting anything out of the service department is a bitch.
My parents went through the same thing (same shit different pile) with chev not two months ago on their 05 chev 1ton (6L) with less then 5k on it. A lot of hyundai's older models are rusty piles of shyte. In the last 5-8 years they've really gotten their shit together. The Accent and Sonata are definitely up there for overall package. They won't blow the doors off anything at the racetrack but they're decent. I think it was the Elantra that got Consumer Reports and Edmounds best buy too. |

Business law comes in handy....
Under the Sale of Goods Act, an act which implies terms into any sale-of goods transaction, there is a requirement for consumer protection that goods sold must be of "merchantable quality" (ie: must be free of any defect that would have persuaded the consumer not to have purchase the good at the agreed upon price) In British Columbia specifically, the consumer is offered even greater protection. There is a provision that states: "goods must be durable for a reasonable period of time". Honestly, warrantees are the biggest scam. The next time someone tries to sell you something with a warranty tell them you already have one under the Sale of Goods Act. Last edited by Bobby_T; Mar 01, 06 at 01:24 AM. |

Like many of Canada's statutes the word reasonable is left up to interpretation by the court. However, precedece has been set that allows judges to follow the a line of reasoning.
The reasonable forseeability test: Was it a foreseeable consequence of purchasing the good that it would break within 4 (she said it was a 2002) years? Hell no! |
