Are you washing you hair with red shampoo/conditioner? Or with some type of color revival products? (i.e. Pantene Pro-V Expressions - For Redheads) :)

When I had hair, and I was dying it. You got to use the right stuff to keep it its color. And make sure you wash and condition it properly. Not to mention either way you do have to keep dying it. Its hard to keep it a rich color!

I've had red in my hair for years. My one true tip is not to washing it everyday. The more you wash it the faster the color fades away. As yucky as it sounds aime for only washing your hair once a week with shampoo and maybe only putting conditioner in it a few times. Think of it as everytime you get it wet.. it gets a shade lighter.

For my red hair I use a Wella colour preserving shampoo - it's about $12 at zennekai in the mall. It's done wonders...however I've found that the water at Ryan's house doesn't do my hair wonders.

It could be the water as well (since you guys are in the same area). I find his water to be very hard and my colour washes out SO BAD when I'm at his house. This is as opposed to when I never washed it at his house and just washed it at my house. Dammit. Next time I get my hair coloured I'm not going to touch his water.

But try that Wella colour preserving shampoo...It preserves the colour by 78%. It's in a red bottle.

use a red dye with a blue base instead fo a red with a light base color in it...use red hair shampoos and wash ur hair every second day if u can...red is the hardest one to keep in..ull have to get the really bright kind like the punky color or something cause every box kind fade..trust me i have tried them all!!! hopefully that helped a bit
