Sprott Shaw and Compu College

Seriously, what horrible schools.....UGH

I feel so bad when a student sends their transcript here and they have spent 2 years in these freaking places only to have us tell them it isn't a recognized school by UBC, Hospitals, places of employment.....

They shouldn't be allowed to teach or call themselves an educational institute.

What a waste of time and money for the students....

i can understand where you are coming from when you're talking about continuing education, but they are still schools, and you come out knowing more than you went in. there is no loss in that. and to say that places of employment won't recognize candidates from these schools can't be right. sure they might give preference to someone from ubc or somewhere else, but its not all about education anyway, you need to factor in experience, personality, etc.

My workplace has hired employees from both of those schools... one of them is our lead systems admin and another is one of our tech team leads!

We have a couple more I think too... so it's not fair to write those schools off completely.

I agree, there are a few areas that they might train in that some employers would deem acceptable, such as the technical end.

But my pseudo little sister took the LPN course through Sprott Shaw, and has been told by every hospital that she has applied to that she will not get employment. She has been told, point blank, that the education she got is not adequate.

She wasted 2 years and $10000.

As well - UBC, SFU, Langara, Kwantlen, and other lower mainland universities and colleges don't allow for any of their courses to transfer.
