Those spiders are harmless, although they're not pretty to look at. Also, that picture is a bit of an illusion... make sure when you're trying to guage the size of them, compare them to the sleeve in the foreground and not the leg in the background.

I worked with a this guy once.. he was a pretty tough fucker.. not tall, but built like a brick shithouse.. played rugby in his spare time.. took on guys twice his size.

But he was terrified of spiders. Even little ones! One time I got one on the end of a stick and chased him with it. He got REALLY MAD :D

I know so many people petrified of spiders. My sister used to literally wake me up so i could kill a harmless spider cause she couldn't kill it herself.

p.s: those huge spides in that pic are crazy. The color for one and the size too

I like all insects, it's just a knee jerk reaction to hate spiders because they tickle.

I hate wolf spiders. What I hate more are those big-body little-legs ones that are jet black and they can jump. Ewwwww. I killed TWO in my office the other day and destroyed their webs. Sick. I had two bites on my leg the other morning, I'm glad I found the culprits.

I don't mind huge spiders though, like tarantulas. My brother has one and she's really pretty - she moves very slowly and is very regal looking. I named her Princess, haha. But if she was so scamper across the floor quickly I'd be able to SEE and HEAR her, which is fine, I just don't like how little spiders can sneak up on you and bite you and you don't even know they're there. *shudder*

I took a newspaper from the front steps into my bedroom once. Was reading it & then this huge spider falls out onto my arm!

I shake out the paper now.

At least you got the power to kill them if need be.

Not a mortified chick who can only scream at the site of them. I always wondered what my sis would do if I weren't around to kill them haha.

I WENT to that site. They post the picture, then the following:

This story was just received by Camelspiders.net.
According to the soldiers relatives; the bite must have happened while he was sleeping. He wasn't even aware that he had been bitten. He woke up to a large lump on his arm. Then while out on maneuvers, the cyst-like area ruptured open. He was then sent on to the MASH Unit in Kuwait.

The story, as they tell it, is that he had no clue he'd been bitten. Then a lump developed. They guess that it happened while he was sleeping.

Where the F is any proof that it was caused by a camel spider?

Add to the fact that there's no name of the soldier given, no name of the relatives that the whole story is "According" to, and that the "article" is posted on a site that obviously wants to post every sensationalist story out there to promote further hits from the shock value, and you have a pretty damn dodgy story.

Snopes.com, the urban legend busters, say that the camel spiders (which aren't actually spiders) feed on insects lizards, maybe small birds. No mention of capacity or willingness to bite humans.

Not that any of that is going to stop countlesss net dorks from sending that bite link to all their friends.
