Happened to me about 3 years ago. We hadn't gotten around to getting home insurance yet, just kept putting it off. Then I come home form work one day and see shit flung all over the floor. They got:
brand new $1300 computer 2 Tech 12s Newmark mixer electric guitar about $1200 worth of buds and for some odd reason they stole my 7 dollar alarm clock I got at walmart. Needless to say, the first thing we did was call the police, then went to the pawn shop down the street to see if they dumped our stuff there. Next stop was the liquor store. We got a 40 of Scotch and a 26 of vodka, to drown our sorrows. Then when we got home, we went on a hunt for any bud left lying around the house. I managed to find a little bud in the corner of one of my drawers, so we loaded the saddest little bowl and made the best of it. On the up side, about a year later I got a call from the police. They apearantly found one of my Tech 12s in a Vancouver pawn shop, but only one of them. When I went down to the station to claim it, it was in a nifty carry case, which wasn't mine but I pretended it was and kept it. So bottom line, I managed to score a free carry case, at the expense of being robbed. |

My place got robbed a while back.
Saturday afternoon, I went out, the guy might have been watching the street to see who leaves their house. He parked right in my driveway in his pickup truck, then went to the front door & buzzed to check if anyone's home (a neighbour saw this). Then he went to the back and used screwdrivers to pry open a locked window and got in (other neighbours (old ppl) actially saw this! But thought it was me and assumed I locked myself out). He got my brand new computer, kinda makes me wonder how he got so lucky. I had a big insurance deductible so this guy cost me a lot. I have lots more security measures now. Would be sweet to catch one of these guys. One thing I've learned is that if a stranger buzzes your door supposedly looking for someone else, he might be a burglar, you should watch after he leaves to see what he's up to. |
