Ummm... well its not so much that I mind people checking it out and stuff.... but you could at least fade it in at the beginning and out at the end. I for one am certainly not a rich man and I appreciate the support from people buying our music which helps us keep doing what we do, and giving away free full versions of the track regardless of the quality is a little uncool.

do people even buy 192kbp files though? I mean to me anything below 320 is substandard... im not trying to justify anything here btw, I just have yet to be convinced that piracy is as big of a threat as some say it is. I mean ya, some wont buy the 192kb, but those same people could just as easily fire up slsk and dl it after seeing the post. I doubt his actions had any negative impact. In fact it could have very well had a positive impact. He was after all making a post to say how rad the track was. What about the other peeps who heard the file, thought it was dope decided to buy the vinyl or proper bit rate file?

Here’s a question? How are digital (underground) labels doing with regards to selling low bitrate files to the non-dj market? That seems to be a partial focus for a few labels that have just sprung up.
You would think that non-DJs would be less interested in obtaining single tracks (as appose to mixes which are free and in abundance these days) and the ones that are would already be dling of slsk etc. Is this even a viable endeavor from the get go? Is there even a market in existence to face the threat of piracy? Last edited by Jonny Dubbs; Sep 21, 06 at 09:43 PM. |

Easy all, Sam Baobinga here.
Just like to repeat that me and Ginz (The Body Snatchers, or Les Snatchers des Bodies for the french speakers) are pretty much the opposite of rich and this whole thing is very much a labour of love. So yes, we're dead happy that people are enjoying the track and making the effort to hype it off their own backs, that's fantastic - but please support the 'proper' release when it comes out... which is pretty soon anyway! Hope this didn't appear like a self righteous rant, its hard to reach the keyboard over my many piles of free promos :) |
