POUND is looking for 100 music producers to guide the development of Thuump - a music sharing application targeted at producers of electronic music. Thuump is more than just a software application; it is an experiment in capitalist reform. Built upon open source and creative commons principles, Thuump will empower artists by giving them creative and economic control over their music in ways never before imagined.

For starters, we hope to have our beta group finalized by September 30th.

You should hit Czech up with something like this and do a partnership with Garage Loops.

Thanks Kraig! Thuump will be an open source and extensible application that can be integrated into things like garageloops or aggregate content therefrom.

Whatever the artists think is best, we will develop.

Interesting! I'm quite involved in the online open source community. Is this a web application? Is there any existing code on sourceforge that I can look at? Or has development not started yet?

Depending on the language/platform, I may be interested in helping with the development.

We will be implementing some basic wireframes shortly. From there the beta group will have full input into further development. At this point I can't say where volunteer programming resources fit in, but they definitely do.

good idea... however based on this movement it seems like its more aim'ing toward mainstream electronic music producers. It would serve no purpose for myself since I produce dark ambient/idm/experimental stuff.

It definitely applies to you. One of my good friends is a professional sound artist who spends all of his time putting microphones in steel garbage cans and rolling them down skid-row alleys etc. He has over 80 gb of samples. He's in.
