this forum is suffering...
from pointless music tasteless top forty and ravers posts, come one now lets get a music production discussion going, what about the latest in software, MIDI controllers, Ableton 6 tricks etc??!? I been rockin 6 with my pio DJM-800, mixing back and forth between my lappy and my 1000MK3 syncing the tempo between the two with an external MIDI clock. I find laptop DJs fucking boring to watch I myself just not ready to completely mix just using the program alone...so at least using one CDJ somewhat keeps me entertained

second of all... "the happening hardware" section is where that talk is supposed take place, not the Simply Music forum. It just gets lumped here cuz pretty much NO ONE looks at the happening hardware except the very few studio geeks. this is a raver board. not an artist board. not a studio geek board. There are plenty other places that cater to that thing. http://www.blackholeclub.com/forum/ check this place out, its more up your alley :) |

Hey bro, you've come to the write place. Production is my 5-9. Right after work, everyday I sit in my room, composing, tweaking my synths.
Today was an exceptional day; I have been working in Cubase for God knows how long. I have a handful of songs that I want to release, but first they need mastering. Thankfully, there's http://optimum-mastering.com/ to the rescue. So, back to the music..Where were we, right, The key to making a great track lies somewhere between the quality of the sound and the positioning of the sound. Quality is something like a huge bassline that changes keys ever so ofter and doesn't get boring. Positioning is like a tight Midi sequence where all the elements meet together in harmony. Recording is another key factor. I think it's safe to say that most every producer is recording with a decent sound card. A few samples through the laptops onboard soundcard is alright, but try to avoid it. Software is kool. I prefer the real thing to the VA. All these softsynths from NI, Artutria, Novation, Korg, etc. Not really sounding like the original much, except the K-Station, but that was digital VA to start. To be honest, most plug-ins, compressors, and synths sound pretty kack. However, I"m not rich and I can't afford the latest focusrite compressor or the new Andromeda synth, so we have to use what we have to our best ability. |

Why would one buy CDj's when they could purchase Serato? Does anyone use Sidechaining anymore? What is a DJ if (s)he can't scratch? |

you've been rocking 6? i thought you wanted to start a production thread. and what the fuck are you watching a laptop dj produce? they must get annoyed having some guy right beside them watching their mouse move. music is for listening, friend. unless you're into turntablism, front row please! |
