Hearing noise from catridge???

Well I just picked myself up a pair of tt500's along with a pair os shure m44-7's . And what I am noticing is that I can hear the music faintly I believe from the catridge.... I know it may sound weird.... I don't believe its a channel leak on the mixer but can anyone have an idea as to what that could be causing this?

lol. You mean when everything is off you can hear faint noise from the needle? That's because the record has valleys and grooves which encode the amplitude and frequency of the music. The needle takes that analog signal and sends it to the mixer.

nabs is an unknown quantity at this point
its normal.

its cuz the stylus is a cone shape and it amplifies whatever is played on the record.

usually the better the cart is the higher it gets.

Yeh that's what i meant by the first post. When everyone is shut off it's normal to hear some sound because of the way the needle amplifies the sound.
