I take rememberance on this day, every year. Considering he's the most influencial musician/composer of the Post-Modern musical era (which we're all a part of like it or not).

he's one of them. Not THE. No person can take that credit. Elvis and Bob Dylan had as much influence on Rock and Roll as the Beatles did. And keep in mind.. there were two other influencial writing sources contributing to the bulk of Lennon's career.

Regardless... he will be missed.

Yes, definetaly Elvis, but I'd say he was more important as a preformer than a composer.

true enough.. most of Elvis' best rock and roll tunes were bought off of black composers anyways. So for the sake of my arguement, I'm replacing Elvis with Jerry Lee Lewis.

there are so many substantial artists that contributed greatly to not only rock and roll, but modern music as a whole.

what about Freddy Mercury, Lou Reed, Elton John, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Alice Cooper, the guys from Black Sabbath, Rush and Pink Floyd etc. etc. etc. '
the list is almost endless!

Lennon (and McCartney) were the ones to push the boundary down to be able to write about whatever artists wanted to. That goes pretty far in regards to composition. And thats what I was getting at.

Regardless, what I was really getting at is that if you think Lennon is the most influencial artist to Rock and Roll.. you've got to take in account how much of the music he's credited for was contributed to in part by McCartney and Harrison.

McCartney too definetaly. And I'm not talking about rock music. I'm talking about composition. The Beatles as a band were "okay", but its the composition where they were ground breaking.

Well ya, actual music. Personally I think the Fugue is the most beautiful form of music and the most complicated. And that dated back to the Baroque. I meant lyrical music...
Mozart had to really hide the true meaning of his operas that were taking stabs at nobleman and "the establishment" of the day. It stayed that way till Lennon & McCartney just game out and said things with out sugar coating it.
