Breakspoll 2007 Voting Has Started!
... So go and cast your vote! -- www.breakspoll.com
Every vote counts! PS: The Breakspoll 2007 Awards are on February 27th at Fabric in London. FROM THE SITE: The festive season is over, we’ve all got fat bellies and withdrawal symptoms from the obligatory non stop alcohol consumption, but on the Brightside its voting season again! Before you get distracted with the multitude of awards for “Best TV soap” and “best non supporting role in an art council funded documentary” there is one rather more important task to turn you attention to as voting is now open for the 6th Breakbeat Awards! Once again you will no doubt be inundated with emails and myspace bulletins as the competition gets fiercer as each year passes. Choose your votes carefully and bear in mind that for a lot of the aspiring Djs, Producers and Promoters this is a real chance to get the recognition that they deserve, so remember the residents down you’re your local Breakbeat night as well as the big guns. Also there’s a slight change this year… artists who were nominated for a breakthrough category last year are not able to be nominated or win again. The Plump DJ’s have decided to remove themselves from the running for Best Producer and anyone who has previously one Most Valuable Person can not win again. |

Interesting... it looks like there will be LOTS of new names on this years awards:
Release from Finger'Lickin: Having reigned supreme as "Best breaks label" at ALL the previous award ceremonies, we have chosen to step down and let another deserved label seize the gong instead... Will it be MANTRA, FUNCTIONAL or PASSENGER, you decide! In the same vain the Plump DJs have admirably chosen to sponsor the best producer category rather than win it (again!), so this year we are keeping it simple in our shameless canvassing for votes. |

with the new Krafty Kuts album dropping last year, I suspect he'll take home both best dj (for the 3rd year!) and best album, and maybe even best producer seeing as the Plumps had an off year, and all but one of Rogue Elements releases last year were remixes.
wouldnt be all that surprised to see his Against the Grain label take home best label (seeing as this is the first time in years Finger Lickin' won't, because they had a mediocre year in comparison to past years). with 2 of the biggest names in breaks (the Freestylers and Krafty Kuts) albums dropping last year, it really sets a hard standard to top. although Passenger did have a big year too. best compilation of last year will undoubtedly be Stanton Warriors' Stanton Sessions 2. and Shake It Up was a pretty big tune that had a wide appeal so could be battling it out for best single, which should actually be a pretty interesting contest in itself as a lot of people were charting different things it seemed last year. Id like to see Malente get breakthrough dj. he did some BIG things in 06. Last edited by Skank Honto; Jan 26, 07 at 03:42 PM. |
