Headphones: AKG vs Technics
Ive narrowed it down to these two... reason being there durable, sound good, highly recomended, and you can change the cord incase it goes before the actual phones.
$230 AKG K 181 http://www.akg-acoustics.com/site/pr...nguage,EN.html perks - 2 year warenty, guy at tom lee recomends disadvantage - cord isnt coiled <<< I really fn hate this $215 Technics RP-DH1200 http://www.panasonic-europe.com/tech...odid=RP-DH1200 perks - feels more heavy duty, coild cord disadvantge - 90 day warenty Has anyone had experince with either of these? |

I think the coil is important. though it does get bundled up. but i prefer it. Either are good, but i wouldn't stress about technic's 90 day waranty. their stuff lasts. I'd go AKG though. They both have single cord, good SPL, and a swivel joint for good ergonomics. But the technics don't look quite as cool and AKG DOES have a better waranty.
I HATE TOM LEE FOR THEIR WARRANTY COVERAGE. I had my dream mixer. Pioneer 707. They had it for 5 months and I ended up swapping for a pmc 05 because they couldn't get my 707 back. I was SO UPSET about how long i got the run around for. So that could be a reason to not buy from Tom Lee for their 2 year warranty. BOO URNS TO TL. |

Am I the only one still using Sony?
I have both MDR-V700 and MDR-7505, which are my favorite because they pack as much punch as the 700s but they are as light as the 500s (same enclosure/frame). They have never let me down so far. *knocking on wood* |

After the swivel on my 700's cracked I got a pair of 7506's and absolutely love them.
I now actually wish I got the 7509's, and for the money you're willing to spend Rhia I'd say that they're worth looking into. The 1200's are excellent, but I find them extreeeemely heavy, heavier than the 700's - they are not the most comfortable set to have on your head for extended periods. Go light edit: I think the 7505's have the 40mm driver, the 7509's carry the 50mm driver, same as the 700 but much better quality sound Last edited by manousos; Jan 29, 07 at 12:10 AM. |

I got the AKGs... I didnt realize how new they were (why I havent seen them around much) AKGs are apparently the #1 headphone used for studio work and the 181s are the first pair they have specialy designed for DJs to play out with (perfect for the DJ AND producer) As for the un-coiled cord... you can order a coiled cord designed for AKGs (I asume for not too much) And apparently the swivel is designed in a way thats stronger than most (even though it looks weeker) Oh and how can you go wrong with the 2 year warenty from the factory??? Last but not least... it was Akeel approved.
Im excited, and thank you everyone for your input. And Manous, the AKG 181 are VERY light :) PS: For those on a budget... AKG makes a great pair for under $100 (says guy at tom lee) Last edited by Ree Fresh; Jan 29, 07 at 12:44 AM. |

lol! "Akeel approved" woot!
7506s are great so far. Im not a fan of the brain squeeze from those shiny pioneers or technics or even the 700s. Our 700s are so old. I don't how many times Manousos has crazy glued the swivels with zap straps. lol! The coil is good for flailing DJs. ~wink~ |
