Muzak Exchange
--This post has been edited to reflect changes-- Wickedhouseparty Muzak is Wickedhouseparty's online Music Exchange. It's a pet project we've been planning to put into action for quite some time, and now it's ready. How does it work? Wickedhouseparty Muzak is an area on our server where DJs and musicians of all kinds can upload music for others to download. Where do I find it? Go to www.wickedhouseparty.org, then to the Interactive Menu, and you'll find Muzak FTP. Or just click HERE I've seen something like this before. Is it different, if so, how? There are several FTP music exchanges locally. Muzak is only very different from most in that web users do not need an FTP client to download or upload the music through the webserver. Its a bit easier to use for those not technically inclined. Do I have to ask permission to upload my music? Are there any rules? A few minor ones. Try to encode your file using either MP3 or WMA format, because you get better compression that way. It's recommended that you encode for 56Kbps MONO so everybody can stream your music without long download times or buffering regardless of internet traffic. If you can't use that format try to keep your file to 6Mb. Is there any type of restriction on the type of music? No. No restrictions on the type of music. Upload only your own stuff, whether it's mixes or tracks, dont just grab a cool CD off the shelf. How do I make sure people know I made the mix? Long filenames are supported. Put your name in the filename. Happy sharing! Last edited by Sir_K; Jul 19, 02 at 12:31 PM. |

Yeah FTPs are a bit of a pain, but coding an asp/jsp page to do the uploading is not only a worse pain but also unreliable. :|
I even put in a hardcore section just for you, ninja-buddy.. lol I thought you would like the touch. I'll be ripping CD-Demos of all of the DJs I've gotten over the past couple of years. It'll take a while, but it will help to seed what I think will become a very useful feature of whp.org |
