DnB/Jungle Club EVENTS
Most DnB club events with BIG name dj's do pretty well, I wonder why Vancouver main stream rave promoters havent got onto this! I think it would bring in another crowd into the scene, some diffrent people! Also way MORE people! Like have 2 big trance Dj's (instead of 4) A Breaks Dj (from the UK) & A Big DnB dj! It wouldnt make the event loose people but it would add some people on the clientel! But thats just my opinion!

^alot more people perfer trance, BUT alot more people like Jungle now a days!
But most show have like 3 trance dj's why not bring in the 2 trance get alot of trance heads & then get one JUNGLE dj & have even more people intrested! It will bring in a new crowd, ALSO with this mainstream slowly declining I think our mainstream promoters should be trying new things, & if I was a mainstream promoter I would try this, NOT cause I like Jungle, but it seems like it does have a following if you book the right DJ'S |

^No it isnt based on my friends!
Have you been to a clubnight with a BIG DnB Dj? Bad Company was pretty packed! Dieselboy was pretty packed! aPHRODITE WAS PRETTY packed! if this was based around my friends, then I would have alot of fucking friends! DnB is a music that is getting more popular! In the UK they make fuckin music videos for some tracks, but thats the UK, but Canada & Vancouver I think are starting to feel it! Breaks it felt like had a huge uprise (& still does), but I havent seen a demand for DnB in Vancouver like today! Club EVENTS are doing well with headliners, even the underground seems to have pretty big attendance, like alot of little Jungle shows are almost selling out these days, with little promotion! Im not saying Jungle is the most popular music, but it is getting big, & I think big promoters should catch on to this, but once again that is me just voicing my opinion! Fuck I wish I had a extra few thousand dollars to bring some big name in, cause I know I would probally get it back in the end! But again just my opinion |

i'd guess it's because the jungle headliners want BIG fees for saturday bookings, probably as more than most of the trance headliners that are coming through. At a rave here, i have no doubt that a second rate trance dj will pull more kids than a top-flight dnb dj. Although the shows in the clubs have been pulling lots, most of those peeps (i think) would be less inclined to go to a rave to see those same artists because of a) higher cover charge for more entertainment that their not interested in, and b) no alchohol!! Drunkalists need their drinks.
In conclusion, fuck fucking raves and enjoy jungle in the clubs. hopefully this coming year we'll see even more ill ass shows than we did this year. harf harf! |

^Yes you may be right martin & 9663 but dont you think it would open up a door for other people?? It could be GOA Trance, or it could be Jungle just anything that we can say is on the strong rise of popularity.
9663 The point you made about the cover charges @ raves, & the no Alcohol, could be really true, but I think alot of damn people who come see these BIG DnB names (Dieselboy,APhrodite, Bad Company etc.) Are coming for this music, because its not evrey day you see someone like Dieselboy or Andy C, so you may be right on that! Its definitley worth the try, I think! But with the new liquor laws coming in effect December 2nd who knows Raves may be done with since clubs will be going till 4, except the minors they will have no choice but to attend raves, to see this talent! You never know, but I tell u one thing, with those hours changing, I Guarantee AFTER_HOURS will Die! 9663 would you attend a Twisted Rave @ The Plaza Of Nations if Andy C was there or Dara or Adam F????????????? Id pay $55 to see any of them on a HUGE sound system! (If I couldnt get guestlist LOL he he) Last edited by Dj_K2; Nov 13, 02 at 10:23 PM. |

as for a "HUGE" sound system at raves, i have yet to hear one that compares to the consistancy of club sound systems. but anyways back to the point. i'd love to see more big drumnbass acts in the rave scene... dj rap IMO was not a good choice to bring out when she was booked for 2 et bros parties... she may be cute and have nice big boobies to look at but shes a shitty dj. as for a dj like andy c... i'm sure he would attract a huuuuge crowd... lil kid junglists will be all over it as well as the heads from the clubs but i guess we'd have to see wont we? i had a blast when dieselboy played at liquified last year but the place was definetly not going off like it was at sonar. .... but as for drumnbass... its still a pretty complex genre to appreciate compared to trance and house. its alot easier to dance to that stuff but drumnbass, it takes a lil understanding...
i dunno... i think it would go off..... but do we want drumnbass to be overplayed and die like hard house and nun rg? definetly not |

this may be a smart move, since anyone who has been partying more then 6 months probably dosen't like trance anymore..it could get alot of people who left the scene or go to clubs into the rave scene again...plus breaks and jungle headlinners are usally alot cheaper then trance headlinners, unless there icey or goldie or someone of that calibre.
9663 and amrtin are right..i much rahter see a jungle dj spin at a club then a rave, this is mainly because im really starting to despise ravers, in fact i fuckin hate them. there are alot of jungle lovers that feel the same way, i really don't like the 16/17 year old meth addicted variety of junglists which are so common at vancouver raves. ohh and i really like beer :) if only they could get a friday/saturday jungle night with a pounding system like sonar open till 4 am..id never go to a rave ever again...except for the od agro party. ...and as for booking big name dnb dj's for massives......what promoter is going to pay a dj more money to play for less people in the second room than he pays for his headliners in the main room? the talent that comes to this city is so watered down, the so-called "big" trance djs that play partys here would be considered second rate at any big american rave, yet they get passed off as the biggest thing since god to our uneducated sheep of massive rave followers. no big promoter is going to pay what any of the big UK dnb djs are asking, the last one to try something remotely close was the civilization project with Dieselboy. the best you see happening is someone like marcus or slip and slide, because they are a cheap headliner.
what does that leave? well, you can't book someone like shy FX or shit to play an underground party like sexy sexy, if you get busted or you lose your space you still gots to pay the piper, and who wants to commit $5000-6000 on something that may not even happen with no hope of getting it back? of course if it goes off then you've earned a rep for yourself that'll never die. that leaves clubs. on that note, let's see some new talent coming in, not just the same djs that certain promoters know will make money... |
