Eris- Trance Demo Demo

OMG!!!
hahaha i finally recorded somthing *LOL*
anyway, MC Hammered has been kind enough to host it on his ftp for me.. so it will be up til midnight tonight. :)
anyway, this is a practice run for my real demo..
(thats why its a demo demo *LOL*)
theres so major issues with the volume because the levels and gains are screwy on my mixer. anyway enough with the excuses.. :silly:

please give me any feedback, positive and negative, so i can make my real demo as plurry as possible!

Being probably the only person on this board who can give honnest opinions without fear of offending someone, I'll give you a review.

There are three points which i feel make up the dj.
Track selection
Technical skill
Track progression (basically, do the tracks go together, do you do more then slap two tracks together and hope for the best?)

Lets look at track selection. Your working with trance. I like some trance and am not a fan of other types of trance. I'll be honnest I'm not a big fan of this type of trance. I feel it dosen't actually capture what trance should be... But that's my opinion. So as far as track selection goes, I don't care for it, but someone else might be totatly digging it. An actually trance fan could tell you if it's good track selection. Not me.

Technical skill.

Your comming along nicely in that. I have never heard any of these tracks before, and your mixing is so good that it's actually making me unsure where one begins and one ends, which is a nice thing to do when your spinning trance. So as far as my opinion goes your technical skills are very nice. People could go and nit pick little things you would never ever notice unless you were an anal retentive dj, but there is no point to that. It's mixed well. Period.

Progression
A good trance mix should take someone on a journey. Your mix does.... Kinda...
There is not a lot of room to breath when it comes to uplifting trance anthems. I'm assuming these are newer trance tracks, which is why I don't get the fluffy trance feeling in my toes when i listen to the tracks. Basically each track is similar, but a little too similar. It gets me going, but then it's kinda a let down when it dosen't take me all the way.

I'm basically rambling.

I'll give you a 7.5/10
To sum it up: I will listen to it again probably, and keep it on my hard drive (which is a big acomplishment, considering my hard drive is a 3 gig). I'll keep it there when I feel like listening to some trance, cause it's a good trance mix. But it stopped short of being an awsome trance mix.

However, of most of the locals who spin trance, I put you very high up, Even higher then the trance professors, and they use computers to edit their online mixes!

To sum it up in 9 words:
One bra size shy of making me jerk off.

k, I listened to the set, it's really good, but one thing you really need to work on is your levelling on the mixes. The beatmatching is perfect throughout, but in pretty much every one of your mixes there's a good 20-30 second window where the volume is at about 75% of what it should be, and then you'll crank the new track up to 100% again and it sounds pretty choppy. This is probably the most difficult thing to master when recording sets, and was something I had a lot of trouble with when I first started making demos. Keep your eye on the levels of the mixer all throughout your mixing, and make sure it's at exactly the same DB all throughout.

Other than that, good work. Oh yeah, for some of the mixes I'd try to make them at least 30 or so seconds longer. The mix into the new track is always smooth and good, but you're too hasty at cutting the previous track out, let it play out a little longer.

I noticed that, I do the same thing though... It's a pain in the ass to get the levels right, espiecally if you have a bad mixer..... Mine only displays the current db's. It's easy to fix up while live, but on a recording...

Whew, i thought someone was going to get all up tight. I wrote a long review, cause she spent a lot of time on it, and deserves more then people just saying it's dope.

i have to agree with you on this..thats one of the only things i found disagreable about her mix, asides from the fact i don't like the particular genre of music she spins
