hehehhe oh man i HATE warped vinyl
i actually rarely have this problem because my vinyl crates are so jam packed they fix themselves with all the pressure but as for the steam thing i've never tried that and i'd say look into that a lil more because you dont wanna risk losing the grooves on the vinyl.. btw did they get warped in the mail or are you just taking really bad care of them? =p Last edited by Moon; Nov 20, 02 at 03:44 PM. |

haha... They came warped in the mail, it still plays and everything, but I'm sure that it isn't good for my needles or the record... but its kinda amusing to watch it spin around all wonky, but I don't wanna wreck it, thats for sure! I'm just going to put it on the the bottom of my record pile for awhile an see if that helps...

1. get a pair of glass sheets about 1/4 inch thick cut in 13 inch square.
2. sandwich the warped record between the two glass sheets. the weight of the glass will press on the vinyl. 3. pre-heat the oven to about 30 - 40 degrees in 5 minutes (don't put in the sandwich yet). then turn the oven OFF. 4. wait for about 3 minutes for the oven to cool down then put in your record sandwich. 5. after about 10 minutes, remove the sandwich. 6. viola!, the warp is gone. |

Bend them....its that simple. When i get a warped record i look at where its warped and bend that part over my knee.
I have fixed at least 20 warped records with just a couple bends in the right place. You can bend the hell out of a piece of vinyl before it actually breaks so as long as you dont go over board you should be fine I have heard of the glass & Oven way as well, but it just seems like way to much effort |

Make sure to keep your records as upright as they can be without falling over. If you have a ton of reocrds sitting in your crate leaning against eachother, the records at the back with all the weight on them will eventually bend.
But really you would have to be pretty stupid to have your records sitting in your box like that. |

i noticed that people who store their records in milk crates have a crate full of warped records since they dont perfectly fit and the angle doesnt do the valuable vinyl any good
usually normal cardboard boxes u can get from safeway or iga are fine for storage... fits perfectly and doesnt cause any damage.. and if you're moving the box around a nice layer of duct tape gives a good surface... but if you have the cash buy a nice flight case and store the vinyl on shelves =) you wont have to worry about warping the vinyl |
