i used to like trancey breaks

i used to like trancey breaks.. i went crazy over that running away track by infinity and some breaks remixes of trance tracks (remember castles in the sky?)

but now i KNOW... breaks aren't meant to be uplifting and happy.. they're meant to be down, hard, and dirty

anyone else agree?

that's the way all breaks heads are at first. same way with jungle. as you learn a style of music and understand it better. then the cheesy shit u like at first is the stuff u like the least. with jungle, jump up was the shit at first. then as i understood it more and listened to more and more of it. i got way more into tech step and anything with real complex snares.

but yeah a trancey breaks track is still good once in a while. I don't listen to em anymore excpet at parties when cinto is spinnin cuz his shit is tiiight!

Finally you guys start to catch on.. :toasted:

But wait.. There is a new wave of breaks startin to break through and they are sooo soo sick!!! Not nu skool and not even dark... Tempo is a bit slower but the most funky feel you can imagine... Almost James Brown style funky... Mark my words!

Oh and that Castles in the sky track was pretty damn wack yo!

i was brought up on nuskool breaks.. the dj that first got me into breaks was e-man and he would always spin nuskool

i was just listening to this breaks remix of some blank and jones track and realized how cheesy it was... and switched the track to a rennie pilgrem track :)

Not all trancey breaks tracks are cheesey. Breaks remixes of cheesey trance songs are cheesey, like castles in the sky for example, but not all of em are. A great example of a non-cheesey trancey breaks tune is PMT - Gyromancer (Wookie Slut mix). I guess the kinda trancey breaks I'm talking about is pretty close to nu-skool though.

speaking of slower funky breaks i was listening to this cd by outcast not the rap group but a guy who wrote and produced all of these tracks and he also incorporates live instraments and scratchin, also has a little downtempo, awsomw stuff, im sure quite a few people have most of these tracks but ill post the titles so they can be downloaded.
most of his stuff is released on kingsize reocrds and this cd is probably 2 or 3 years old
i guess everything works in a cycle

1 top floor
2 paradise found
3 hussy
4 23rd angel
5 last bullet
6 my sister
7 carjack
8 mr sandman
9 lets do lunch
10 adios king salsa
11 from the hip
12 king of the bongo
13 hubbley bubbley

Dark breaks are almost as bad. They're boring! I do not want to hear them when im out, unless its a loungey type setting. ie botchit and scarper, trc, marine parade, etc.

The breaks style that precise is talking about is the good stuff. Plump djs type style. Producer's are starting to jump on the bandwagon (which is good because there's not enough of that style out there.)
