About cKippler (Conrad Whelan) / Deep Down Tempo - Motion Notion 2007
My mix from the wee hours on friday night at Motion Notion 2007. Meghan - Valentine's Day Mix 2007

Released: Feb 14, 2007
Genre: Progressive - Psytrance
Length: 0:59:00

Listen / Download here: Meghan - Valentine's Day Mix 2007 - Area709

Goahead Productions: GoaheadOhioPsytrance @ Tribe.net
About Meghan / Valentine's Day Mix 2007

Here's a mix that I recorded shortly after midnight on Valentine's Day...enjoy! :)

DJ Meghan has been in the EDM scene since the spring of 1998 when her then boyfriend/now husband took her to her first event. She instantly became addicted to it and a year and a half later, in the fall of 1999, decided to buy 2 Technics 1200 MKII turntables and a Pioneer DJM 300 mixer. In the spring of 2000, she had her first gig (Think Different) in Columbus, OH and has been spinning out on a regular basis ever since.

She started spinning mostly techno, progressive house and progressive trance but every now and then would also buy some psytrance records to add to her collection.

It wasn't until early 2003 when she decided to get more involved with spinning psytrance when DJ Malachi (Goahead Productions) persuaded her to do so. She found it difficult to buy psytrance on vinyl and noticed that a lot of it was only available on CD, so at the end of 2003, she bought her first Pioneer CDJ 1000.

Meghan is now a very well known DJ in the Eastern Midwest, and her sets will take you on a journey, with mixes that are very well constructed using tracks from all genres of psytrance music.

Treavor Moontribe - Moontribe 14 Year Anniversity Gathering

Released: Aug 2, 2007
Genre: Techno - Progressive
Length: 1:19:01

Listen / Download here: Treavor Moontribe - Moontribe 14 Year Anniversity Gathering - Area709

moontribe
About Treavor Moontribe / Moontribe 14 Year Anniversity Gathering
Treavor Walton a/k/a "Treavor Moontribe" is a composer, producer, DJ, A&R associate for a digital online label, and founding member of Moontribe. He's also a member of the famed band Amani vs. Teapot now known as Desert Dwellers. Treavor was born in L.A. and began his musical career performing guitar in local bands as a teenager. By the end of high school in 1993, he discovered an underground rave scene that quickly fueled his musical talents in another creative direction: producing electronic music and experimenting with different musical tools beyond the guitar. Being so inspired during that same year, a then very young and fresh Treavor co-founded Moontribe. Its mission was to create an alternative dance space for the then struggling L.A. underground DJ community. Today, Moontribe has become a leading name in the industry as one of LA's most recognized tribal dance-music-promotion teams, cultivating the presence of many of today's top DJs in the global underground scene with continued success of over 14 years. In the course of a fourteen year history, Moontribe and its members have been traveling the world spinning a unique sound of desert-inspired dance music with an intelligently crafted tribal blend of beats. As Moontribe grew in stature, experience, and maturity, DJ Treavor did as well. After two years following the development of Moontribe, he became one of their resident DJs, performing at its Full Moon Gatherings, and continues to be a strong presence for Moontribe. This year marks his twelfth year as a Moontribe artist, having built a reputation uniquely his own traveling all over North America and beyond participating in events such as The Shambhala Festival in Canada, Free Form Productions in Hamburg, Germany, and in Morocco for New Years 2001. His versatility and intelligence of music sets him apart from his fellow artists. Treavor is known for being extremely diverse and has always refused to be pigeon holed into one specific genre. This diversity allows him to stay fresh with his sound as well as program effectively for any time at any party. DJ Treavor has in the past been most notably recognized as performing with music partner Amani Friend under the name "Amani vs. Teapot" and now Desert Dwellers. The duo hand-crafted numerous EPs which were released on labels Ritual Sounds, System Recordings and Chug Records, as well as licensing music and remixing for Bedrock Records and Sunkissed Records. The project became world famous for its unique sound of Tribal Progressive House, and quickly earned the recognition of some of the world's best DJs, such as John Digweed, Chris Fortier, and John OO Flemming. As a result of the immense passion and creation of Amani vs. Teapot, the birth of "Desert Dwellers" has evolved in 2005. Desert Dwellers is a multi genre project introducing many collaborators like Rara Avis, Jonathan Grossman and Jeff Steinmetz aka DJ Kepi. To date Desert Dwellers has released two full length Chill Out albums on White Swan Records and a swathe of dance remixes for the likes of Deep Forest (Existence Records), Omnis Recordings, Pacific Front Recordings and Ritual Sounds. Multiple new albums are in the works ranging from Chill Out to Techno, Electro and Psy Trance. After over 2 years in San Francisco working as the Artist & Repertoire associate for INgrooves; a leading digital label and technology company, Treavor has re-located back to his home of Los Angeles. Now running the L.A. arm of INgrooves and being back in his hometown, Treavor has re-discovered his roots while staying full steam ahead with his A&R job. With Moontribe events still going strong after 14 years, the Desert Dwellers discography growing by the month and DJ gigs all over North America and beyond, Treavor Moontribe is riding an endless wave of musical bliss that has no end in sight. About Ariel Cybana / Provocative Episode 129

This mix is from my monthly show Provocative :)

Bio:

I'm a DJ, vocalist, track editor, aspiring producer and so forth. In the past I've been a former reviewer for 365 Mag (formerly Xpander.nl), an A&R for Eccentric Beats (which later became Mercury Sessions) as well as a judge for a couple of DJ/remixer contests. I'm one of the few female artists in this biz who is self taught in DJing and NEVER had a man to elevate my career. Also I have never resorted to kissing ass nor compromised my morals to get ahead either.

The style of music I play usually is in the progressive house and tribal house sort of realm. Occasionally I'll do a progressive breaks set or I'll step out of the box and make a mix of downtempo or whatever. Hell I did a few DJ mixes of music from the Final Fantasy video game series! I'm planning to do a tech house set someday. As for playing out, I just stick to what I would dance to myself. After all most people when they go out are there to have fun!

Since June of 2003 I have hosted an internet radio show called Provocative. It started at Eccentric Beats for the first two years on a weekly basis before I moved it to Digitally Imported's Progressive channel. The first broadcast on di.fm had received over 800 listeners. In March 2007 I've added more hosting homes for Provocative and it is now hosted at Danceradio.gr, Tribal Mixes and House Pacifique. Provocative now airs on a monthly basis with a listenership well into the 1000's. Some of my past guests include Desyn Masiello, Austin Leeds, Mark Lewis, Scott Bradford (of Lexicon Avenue) and many more. Some of my guests are not the most known yet have mad talent to some world renowned talent. These days I only go for guests who I have high confidence in be it their production work or their mixing dazzles me. One little note I should make is I am not looking to fill guest spots for my show at this time (so please don't solicit yourself).

With my music career, I've had my share of ups and downs. One of the biggest blessings is to have traveled and headlined in several countries around the world. I've been to Germany, Peru, Malaysia, Portugal, China and more to come. Did some vocal work on a few tracks that have been played by many of the top DJ's in the world. I am currently working on more vocals right now for some kickass producers so stay tuned. Plus I'm editing tracks and I must say I don't hate Ableton anymore.

Welcome
About Federico Epis / August 07 Promo

Progressive mix from Uruguay's Federico Epis...

When support and feedback about someone comes from no others than: Tiesto, Hernan Cattaneo, Dave Seaman, Anthony Pappa, Martin Garcia, Pole Folder, G-Pal, Gabriel & Dresden, Randall Jones, Mashtronic, V-Sag, DJ Tarkan, CP, James Lauer, Jason Jollins, is not necessary to say anything else.

Thist is what happened last years about Federico Epis, great feedback, big support and big reactions about his work as producer from some of the biggest names in the electronic music industry.

Besides that, in only 4 years as producer he has signed more than 30 releases with an outstanding list of big labels like:

* Swift Records (Greece)
* Pure Substance Records (Malaysia)
* Acute Recordings (USA)
* Dubcoast Records (USA)
* Fiberline Audio (USA)
* Atlant Recordings (France)
* Red Circle Recordings (USA)
* Bellarine Recordings (Australia)
* Aloud Recordings (USA)
* Sirion Records (Austria)
* Progrezo Records (Colombia)
* Mestiza Records (Argentina)
* Mushroom Records (Argentina)
* Muzik XPress (Uruguay)
* Lake Effect (USA)
* Reticent Records (USA)

And most important of all, being required by several clubs around the world is something that is usual on this days, being played yet in countries like USA, Brazil, Argentina, Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia during 2006 and in 2007 gigs already confirmed at Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Turkey, etc

With a monthly residence at the most prestigous radio on the internet, Federico has a show called Sensations on Frisky Radio, where he was also nominated Artist of the Week in January 2006.

Some of the most well known DJs and key people in the Music Industry already said a lot about Federico, but maybe the most important and clear though about him is the one that came from one very well known man in this business:

"This guy is getting hot lately"

Randall Jones - Bedrock/Renaissance - USA

"There is an up and coming dj/producer who is about to become very well known to the progressive house community on a world-wide level, his name is Federico Epis."

Jason Jollins - Acute Recordings, USA.

Iboga Records
About DJ Glen / The Weekender (Friday & Saturday)
Glen started to play records and spin them on some old decks at a very young age of 14 back in 1993. He started by playing early breakbeat/hardcore and swiftly moving forward in the direction of techno/acid until finding Goa Trance a couple of years later at the now legendary Return to the Source parties in London. Around this time he joined up with two other aspiring DJ’s that he’d met at college and had become great friends with. Together they formed the local party group ‘Psyquarius’, free parties around their local town (which is 1 hour from London) for friends and travelers.

Around this time (1996), while playing alongside Chris Organic, Glen was spotted by Matt (founder of Omnipotent Eye party org). He asked Glen to play at the legendary Tyssen Street Studios where he became the resident ‘Skybabies’ DJ, hosting label nights with Dragonfly, Twisted, Aurinko, Resonoise and the now defunct Symbiosis Records to crowds of 1000+. Glen now lived and worked in London. About 3 years later after playing at all sorts of parties, from small private nights to massive warehouses or open air gigs, UK and overseas, Glen joined the London based trance label, Resonoise Records as part of the DJ/A&R team. Over this time his style had matured from Goa/Psy to a progressive psychedelic sound. But where after a couple of years his various residencies in London continued sadly the record label did not.

Between 2002 and 2005 his style merged the groovy psy sounds of progressive trance, such as that coming out of Sweden and Denmark, with the tribal sounds of house. His current direction is to merge and blur the lines between house and trance. His journeys through music and country have had him play alongside some of the top psychedelic and progressive artists, from Slide (Coburn) to Son Kite, Koxbox to Tim Schudlt, Green Nuns, Jaia, Liquid Soul, Behind Blue Eyes, Phony Orphants and Igneous Sauria to name a few. From DJ’s like James Monroe, Dino, Paps, Anti, Emok, Richard K, Pied Piper, Peter Dijital, Banel, Sally Doolally, Nadi, Bakke, Dick Trevor, Franke, Pena, Noma, Greg Coyle etc, etc and so on. Now Glen is also part of the DJ team of Denmark’s Iboga Records. As well as DJ, he will promote the sound and ideas of the label, and help to work with other labels to source out the Iboga sound. Also now living in Gothenburg, you can catch him playing around Sweden and Europes progressive hot spots.

The Mix: After having these mixes laying around for a few months our good friends at aerogroove have been kind enough to host them for me. The concept is 'The Weekender', We have all had them and here is a musical selection for the journey. This is the 'Friday' mix a collection of slow minimal and smooth house, building to funked up prog house, and the 'Saturday' mix is more of an up front prog house/electro and trance. Enjoy!!

In Order To Danse
About In Order To Danse / Winter Mix 2006
This mix was recorded last winter amidst the excitement for Trentmoller's "Last Resort" album. It was for this reason that I selected "Take Me Under Your Skin" as the first song. The song contains unique use of accent drums which make it really stand out for me, this is how I choose to theme the rest of the mix; beautiful minimal songs that stood out in 2006.
Track List

1.Trentmoller - Take Me Under Your Skin
2.Tiefschwarz feat Tracey Thorn - Damage (M.A.N.D.Y. Remix)
3.Lindstrom - The Contempary Fix (Serious Symptoms Mix)
4.Ame - Rej (Pasta Boys Remix)
5.Carl Craig - Darkness
6.Sweet & Candy - Tacky Wakeup (Dominik Eulberg remix)
7.M.I.D.I & Mowree - Right Now (Body Mix)
8.SLG - Anymore

Norris and I had a blast at Motion Notion this year, James really out did himself and the weather was INTENSE but made for big adventures for sure.

We are now excited for our dub/glitch set at Shambhala on the Beach stage on Sunday, and of course taking part in the Green Moon (Green Sector & Moon Tribe, hello turbo sound rig!!) camp at Burning Man this August... now that's going to be one hot (+50 celcius, zero humidity is the forcast) and dusty week in the desert of Nevada. We will be wrapping up our summer festival season this year by playing at the Symbiosis gathering in California at the end of September so we are feeling very lucky for having so many incredible opportunities to play some tunes for folks.

I have a bunch of great photos from gatherings and festivals in my photo gallery, and I have just added a bunch from Motion Notion, you can find them here:

Description:

We are VERY happy with how our set came together for this years Motion Notion festival, so we decided to record it afterwards here at home and post it up for others to enjoy. This year we were wedged between two full-on psy performers, with Wizzy Noise being the act to follow us, so our set was meant to be a roller coaster through driving minimal tech, progressive and full-on psy. Add to that the fact that our set started out with hot dry sky's filled with stars and ended during a MASSIVE rain/thunder storm with tornado warnings for the area in effect... talk about INTENSE!!!! In the end our laptop finally stopped working and our fear was that it had actually shorted out due to the rain but the next day it started up without a hitch which was a HUGE relief. Our goal was to keep everyone engaged, twist a few noodles and not burn people out on the full-on. From all the super-positive feedback I think we managed to kick some ass!! Many of the tracks are killer classics, with a few shinny new ones thrown in, and the overall flow is a bit of a journey so sit back and imagine the thunder clouds closing in from behind, and as the mix ends the rain is coming down with a vengeance and the clouds are swirling with the threat of tornadoes. They don't call us Sons of Aurora for nothing....

Enjoy!!

eYen - Lupine REM

Released: Aug 3, 2007
Genre: Electronica - IDM
Length: 1:14:22

Listen / Download Here: eYen - Lupine REM - Area709

About eYen:

eYe am an existential kinesiologist moving towards a comprehensive philosophy of body and learning based upon the anatomical, perceptual, conceptual, and meaning structures of a self-aware system. As a dancer, i am obsessed with music as philosophical choreography - and as a dj, i use Intelligently Designed Music (IDM) for emotive storytelling: sculpting soundtracks for life in motion.

About Lupine REM:

Initially recorded on a Sunday night radio show called Translucent Dreams on CJSW 90.9 on the full moon... but I wasn't happy with the way it turned out. I still had a lot of process to work through. In many ways the music here is a reflection of my recent emotional process and I learned a great deal working on it: both about music and about myself. Relationship and relating with self with other with others intimacy dancing pouring weight sharing support rhythm melody harmony glitches dark, raw, sensitive moments of awkwardness, confusion conflicting and harmonic melodies both resolving into intricate simplicity not all pretty but much that is beautiful to me. An offering.

Isoterra - Subconciousness Volume 6

Genre: Psytrance - Progressive
Length: 1:16:01

Listen / Dowlnoad Here: Isoterra - Subconciousness Volume 6 - Area709

Isoterra Music

About Isoterra / Subconciousness Volume 6

My name is Rich (or RJ), and I was born on the 16th of August, 1985... in Bristol, England. Around 1996 I took a fascination for music and despite not being able to play an instrument, set my sights on making it one day. Through 98 and 99, my tastes became more focused on trance, particularly the European style pioneered by Ferry Corsten & others. In 2002, I first picked up a copy of Fruityloops & have been using it until this present day...

'Isoterra' is my primary, solo production guise; the name basically means 'common ground'. I have experimented with various types of trance under this guise, as well as the occasional breaks/chillout piece. Other projects I'm involved in are 'Terrafusion' and 'Neonate'. Terrafusion is a collaborative project with Omar Avila, a melodic genius from Canada, and is more focused on full-on epic uplifting style stuff. Neonate is a collaboration with fellow UK producer Michael Trenfield.

Forerunners - Lifecycle (leo g remix)

Description

Here is a mix based on the set I played at Earthdance this year. This was my first attempt at putting together a mix/set, and although I had some apprehensions about it (not having any DJ training whatsoever), I was very satisfied by the outcome. I wanted to showcase some of my favorite tracks from this year as well as a few classics that have graced many a mix here on Area709. It starts with a gem of a track that pays tribute to the greatest rock band of all time, which helped to transition from the live rock/funk band into a set of dance music. From there it weaves through progressive house, psytrance and ends with chunky, minimal psytech. I would like to dedicate this mix to the DJs of Area709, whose mixes provide me with a constant supply of fresh sounds that fuel my creative fires, as well as keeping me dancing in my living room all the time! I hope you enjoy the tunes, and feel free to leave comments/criticisms. Peace and light.
