okay. i just listened to it...

I don't think it is as good as "push the button", and certainly no "surrender"...

but it is marginally better than "come with us"


I'm not that impressed with this album. But the few songs on it that I did enjoy, I really enjoyed.

"salmon dance" and "the pills won't help you now" definitely stand out. There were a couple other good ones I cant recall.

I give em props for trying something new...

I prefer their harder hitting bombastic stuff, this album is really mellow and minimal. less breaks, more focus on the 4/4.....

i still think 'surrender' and 'dig your own hole' are the best ones.

i got this about a month back on promo and wasnt really feeling it compared to their older breakbeat stuff...watch out for a breaks bootleg of "do it again" thats been blowing up in ibiza all summer though!

I never really considered myself a huge breaks fan, I guess. While I have a lot of respect for Dig Your Own Hole, I honestly feel that they've been just steadily improving their sound ever since.

And I can't stop screaming about how cool Fatlip is in this one.

What other edm group has attained international pop success, and consistently good material (for over 10 years now!)- all the while still being respected by the underground>?

the only other edm groups that come close to these guys are daft punk, basement jaxx and the crystal method.

Pet Shop Boys have been charting in Europe since loooooong before Chemical Brothers even appeared on the scene.

Only with one single, in like 1992. And it was a cover of a Village People track (Go West). (West End Girls charted out here in the 80s too)

Still, they've been producing pop music for decades. There was a heavy period of time that Jam & Spoon were big on remixing their tracks, and Madonna has oft cited them as one of her major influences.

Their latest album, Fundamental is pretty glorious, and has been picked up by a slew of popular EDM artists in Europe (Ewan Pearson, Jacques Lu Cont, Alter Ego, Richard X, Trentmoller, Tiga, just to name a few).

i saw this tour in brooklyn last week. An unreal show!
No all of the cuts on the album are dancefloor friendly but I am really enjoying it. I'll try to get some pics up from the show later tonight.

They've always had a fair share of intelligent/non-dancefloor-friendly tracks in their albums. Makes for a good balance. Frankly, if an entire album is floor bangers it can get repetitive really quickly.
