I think that they have the potential to be up there, BUT the haven't been around long enough.
I LOVE the way they flip their rhymes back and fourth. You can tell that they've been rhyming together for a long time. If you look at it that way, I think that they have the edge ojn Wu Tang because the all the Wu Tang guys have styles that are so different. That's not saying that they are worse, they juss don't complement eact other like J5 does. Wu Tang is group of very talented solo artists. However, there are a lot of aspects of Wu Tang that shine when you're talking in terms of complemetation. For example, Rae and Ghostface. HOLY FUCK, do I love to hear those guys spit. The complement each other so well. It's juss like how Redman broke away from Def Squad and Meth broke away from Wu. Look at them now. Not that I didn't like them before, but this allowed them to fine tune their styles instead of riding Erick Sermon's and RZA's coattails, respctively. I can't see any members of J5 doing a solo gig. Verdict - Apples and Oranges |

Camp Lo - Black Connection
Saukrates - Hate Runs Deep Feat. Marvel Kardinall Offishall - 'Ol Time Killin' Remix Feat. Busta Rhymes And almost anything Pharcyde, basically. Don't forget aboot Pete Rock & CL Smooth. They had their moments, too. Aboot the Wu Tang, fuck I think my fav has to be "Shadow Boxing" or "Ice Cream." FUCK, too many good songs!!! I'm changing my Winamp playlist as we speak. |

J5 are sick, and are even sicker live!
And to correct teh above misconception, these guys all have been around for a long time. Prior to releasing their ep in1997 the 6 members were previously divided into two different groups(forget the names at the moment) that eventually came together to form J5. So theyve actually all been around since the early 90's some time. Damn, straight power in numbers :) B//F |

Del IS a solo artist. He was solo before he was in heiro wasnt he? What do you think about del being the best mc right now? |

Del's unique style cetainly makes him one of the best lyricists in recent years, but I haven't a clue who the best is until I've heard every single one out there (yes, even the bedroom MC's :kam: ).
As for comparing production, I've yet to hear the new J5 album so I wouldn't know if that's the comparison. I was merely comparing J5's first and Heiro's first since those are the only two albums of their's that I own, and then down to lyricists. J5's crew is solid together but no one seems to stand out more than the other. Heiro's has a couple of unique voices on their crew, hence why I felt they were better. |

I agree u gotta love heiro.
They actually do have a new cd out called "ONE BIG TRIP". Its actually a compilation cd, but at least half the material on it is new and/or unlreleased Heiro/Del tracks. I'll have to disagree with J5 not having any unique voices though. I think chali's voice is one of the most recognizable voices amongst mc's out today, which is probably why he continually shows up on other groups albums as of late. I woudlnt be surprised if he did a solo thing in the next few years. My personal fave mc right now is proably gift of gab, even a bit better than del id say, and i love del. Gab definately showed up del when both del and blackalicious played at richards about 3 years ago. B//F |

and on top of that chali 2na is one of the nicest, most down to earth dudes on the planet. Their show was the best show I've ever seen live, including concerts and raves and whatever other party, it was simply amazing.
The J5 are by far my favourite rappers out there, and I'm glad others are catching on. I first heard of em in 99 and have been hooked ever since. |
