But honestly breakbeat awards or breakbeat nights or break beat artists all these terms isolate what ever they're trying to promote. I don't get it. Think of all the producers who came out with dope ass breakbeats. Simian Mobile Disco "Hustler" is one example. This is clearly a breakbeat. So does it not fit in with the "Breakbeat genre"? Or do you have to belong to a handful of labels that have stole the term "breakbeat" and market it as a genre that they control. Weren't most of these artists/labels considered Nu Skool breaks? Haven't heard that one in a while. Maybe I'm just a bitter old washed up breakbeat dj but I can see the technical definition of breakbeat lasting forever. The perceived genre on the other hand????
