switch back to digital?
after 4 years of using great tech 12's, im thinking of swaping back to cdj's.
ofcourse I'm looking at pioneers, the last time i had cd decks was over 7 years ago so i'm a bit out of the loop. can anyone recommend some non pioneer decks? and what's the going rate for a pair of babied techs these days? |

CDJ1000s aren't worth the money, really, but they are the Tech 12s of CDJing. You'd do fine with 800s or 400s. The Denons are okay, but they always felt a little plasticy to me. Too many fragile plastic pieces.
You should be able to get a good $500-$550 a piece for used 1200MKIIs or IIIs if you sell them on craigslist. The last used SL1200MKII that sold at Tom Lee went for $599 early last year, but we don't give great trade-in values. You'll make more money selling them privately. |

^ meh, it's numark so it's likely going to be crap but the concept is there.
5-10 years from now, the future of djing controllers will be mechanized platters to simulate the feel of turntables. Stanton has this one too: Stanton > Enter the System me, I'll stick with technics thank you |

if you use torq then get an xponent or something:
M-AUDIO - Torq Xponent - Advanced DJ Performance/Production System if you tried to bring that to a pro environment, I'd probably laugh at you, but since you're just doing it at home it should be fine :). |

honestly,
I'm sure i'll get back into the pro environment but of course, i dont want to bring my laptop and torq and possibly have an issue of dead silence while i trade over (torq is SKETCHY!), so i'd probably use cdj's at that point. |

for reals tho, cdjs aren't going to really take up less room than tts and if you want to go digital and already have the TTs and laptop, just get the industry standard for DVS rather than switching over to a brand new medium. You're already familiar with torq and serato is like torq only done well (minus a few bells and whistles that's made up on the lack of sketchiness as well).
