Territory Restrictions

This is frustrating.

Your buying tracks on legit Digital DL sites whether it be; beatport, track it down or which ever and you find a bunch of must have tracks you want to add to your crate. All is good, but when it comes down to checking out and paying for em you get a message that reads somewhat like, "The following tracks cannot be purchased due to territory restrictions".

AGGGGGGHHHHH! SERIOUSLY!!!

I'm willing pay the tracks, through a legit source, so that the artists get the credit and $ they deserve!!!!

SO JUST GIVE EM TO ME ALREADY!!!

Nope.

The problem with legal downloading is you have to deal with legalities. Might be that copyrights on samples haven't been cleared in that country, hasn't gone through the appropriate censors, etc. etc. etc.

This is why tracks take years after having been produced to actually get released.

Yet one more reason why paying for something that has no actual monetary value is just plain ridiculous. Now they even restrict you from getting it if you're in the improper country.

Things like this never happens with hard copies. Granted, though, you'd often have to pay some hefty import fees.

Never had to pay import fee's for vinyl, just shipping, CUZ IT WEIGHS A TON :D

non-transparent proxy with SSL, preferably from the artists home country or track lease area. rumor has it this works with beatport. I spent a couple hours trying and got bottle necked trying to find a proxy with the capabilities I needed, specifically with SSL. worth a shot if your bored and wanna google down a working proxy. I had a feeling if I was a little more into IRC I could have dug one up for Germany like I needed but I don't play in that sandbox well.

I've used a UK proxy that we use in my office before and successfully connected as a UK IP, but I still got the restriction on my account. I think it may have been because my account states that I am from Canada maybe? Hmmm I guess I could use the proxy and sign up for a new account. ya think that would work?

might have to use a new Visa number too if you have one linked to your account.

Give the account creation thing I try, I didn't think of that. In the end I just went onto Facebook and found someone from that Country to buy it for me and sent him the money via Paypal. Music lovers stick together, find a go2guy :)

I have never heard of this, not yet at least... Without giving away your gems lol, what kinda music and what sites have layed down the restrictions? Also Epidemik, you are lucky that you haven't had to pay customs, that is pretty sweet! I have to sometimes, depending on the amount totalled or depending when in the year. Here is a little rule of thumb; don't order records around holidays. I get hit up for customs almost everytime.

/\ Sites like Beatport, and Track-it-down. There are a lot of tracks that have territory restrictions on them. Whether it be breaks, house, hip-hop, dnb. For example try buying any Axwell track off of Track-It-down.

Shitty man, that sucks. Hmm.. I would say try Juno. I just tried to download that track just to see, and I got as far as purchasing it without submitting my order. That is a nice track btw. Hopefully you have success with that site :)
