Monitor/Reference speakers. Anyone have some suggestions on which ones and why?

I currently have Behringer Truth's (2031A's) and quite frankly I'm not totally satisfied with them. The bass output isn't so great.. let's just say it's 'sloppy' for lack of a more technical term. I'm finding that these speakers' bass does not match its treble/mid output ~ basically it sounds like those old 'ghetto blasters' (in my opinion).. anyways, if anyone has any suggestions on better speakers, please let me know.. Obviously for drum & bass mixing we want more Bass. Help.

I was thinking KRK's Rokit8's??

^regardless of how "sloppy" the 2031A's sound, they will still be useful one you upgrade IMO. testing tunes on multiple monitors is always good. a well mixed tune should still sound good on poop speakers.

i currently am using the Event (Tr8 i think is the model number im not there right now)s and although they are very good, i am investing in another set, for cross-referencing purposes.

Global will become famous soon enough
Yeah I'm a really big fan of the TR-8's myself. So if you were getting another set to cross reference with those would be a good choice. Nothing wrong with KRK's though. It actually came down to a choice between KRK's and TR-8's. I just thought the TR-8's sounded a little sexier.

Yorkville YSM1P's are the best monitor for the buck here in Canada. Canadian made, flat, versatile, and cheap. I've been using mine for years, and they've helped in many of our releases. If you have the cash, Mackie HR 824s are the best for a home studio.

KRK's are probably the worst possible monitor you can buy. I know many producers have returned/sold them after only a couple months use.

I was considering getting the KRK's.. the Mackie's definitely got a lot of bang, unfortunately for a lot of buck(s that I don't have).. Anyways, today was the final day I could 'hack' the Behringers lack of performance, so I went out and bought me a pair of Yamaha's HS80M's this afternoon. (Listening to these) Next to the KRK's, this was a better choice I think.

Thanks all for the feedback.
