Symphony and PvD

Set aside 58 minutes and 49 seconds, and watch it. Woooow, I was in awe watching this. Definitely one of the most exciting things I've ever seen in dance music, or any music. I thought this was something new, but it seems this is the third annual Music Discovery Project of the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra. 2008 was alongside DJ Mousse T. and 2007 with DJs Tom Wax and Boris Alexander. I checked into the 2008 show and I have to say, the performance with Paul van Dyk is the one that is really groundbreaking. It's remarkable, captivating, and dare I say historic. I hope we see more projects like this one. |

Europeans are more cultured. I maintain that it is outstanding. I don't like all genres of music, or all forms of art, but I respect anything with real artistic merit even if I'm not the most qualified judge. I'm with Average, if that was coming to Vancouver, I would so be there. In fact, I would travel quite a distance to see it for myself.
On that note, I was watching a recent interview with Paul and he said after Discovery Music Project 2009, they got calls from the US about potentially doing a US tour. Sweet! |

lol. i don't think this is a case of europeans being "more cultured". i think it's simply a case of you like progressive mixed with simple orchestral music and i think it's weak sauce. AKA it's a matter of aesthetic differences.

I'm not sure I understand your position beyond you don't seem to like it at all. Do you feel that the composition of the musical content is uncreative? Or that the skills of the performers is lacking? Would either the original classical piece or the electronic contributions by themselves be of greater interest because the weaker detracts from the greater or the combination does not work well?
