Prodigy- Invaders Must Die (Album)
Wicked album! Just picked it up and never hit skip first time through which is pretty rare.
It's a mashup of Nuschool breaks, punk'n bass, and some oldschool hardcore. They seem to have taken some cues from Pendulam, but have taken back that sound. First bit of bass culture to get me excited in a long time. Highly recommended! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=voBNp...2B7E71&index=0 |

First bit of bass culture to get me excited in a long time." My reply to this was a link to sources of current drum and bass, not intended as spam but a polite nudge away from Pendulol and towards real drum and bass culture. Just tired of hearing everything being compared to Pendulum. There are over 10 years of bass culture that probably haven't seen the light of day especially here in BC. I was going to specifically link a good set as an example (of something culturally bassier than Invaders must die) but the more I thought of what to suggest the more vast the internet seemed to me so I posted 4 general links. I was just bored and came here to post something. Geez I'm not a spammer. Invaders must die had a couple good tunes with breakbeats that I enjoyed but how come only a couple good tunes after all these years? Why did they let so many other producers make awful remixes of all their best classics over the last decade? |

^ Fair enough. Just that you didn't really contextualize it in the post and it seemed like just random spam. It's like "OH HEY A THREAD ABOUT DNB LEMME SHOW OFF THESE DNB SITES!" is kinda a bit of a stretch. Thx for the explanation though.
I do take issue with this statement though: Quote:

Ebbomega, you are right. We do have a thriving scene. Just wish there were more people into drum and bass and talking about the producers and different styles as there is in the UK. Seems like every time I hear a good dnb tune startup at a rave the dj follows it with dubstep instead of building on that energy into more drum and bass. Or even worse a drum and bass intro with an electro drop. My favourite tune from Prodigys new album is Warriors dance. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=voBNpdXkLnU Heard it played out on Saturday but after the vocal intro everyone started walking away. Don't think anyone actually knew it was Prodigy. |
